How Do I Change My Microsoft Account Phone Number?

Changing your account's mobile number
– Sign in to your account
– Click on My Microsoft account in the upper-right account drop-down.
– Click on Update your security info.
– Click on Advanced security options.
– Click on Add a new way to sign in or verify.
– Click on Text a code.
– Enter the code received.
– Remove any outdated phone numbers still associated with the account.

This will only work if u have already SIGN IN to your account. Meaning: u already CAN login into your account in one sort of way. U cant bypass the 2 factor authentication.. which sucks

Also if I want to add an email address for that account, is it possible to create a new hotmail or outlook account within the process? As I don’t wish to use my gmail accounts for the email portion

Hi Leo, may I ask if let’s say you sign up for a Microsoft account with your phone number, am I still able to change it in the future if I want to replace it with a phone number?

I m signed into my Microsoft account that was created 15 years ago…the recovery phone number is a land line that was disconnected years ago. When I attempt to change this by attempting to go to advanced settings…I get sent a code to a number that doesn’t exist anymore…and I cannot proceed beyond this point

I’ve been trying to change my phone number from landline (which was originally set up) to my mobile phone. Went to advanced security settings and the only option I have is to verify my contact e-mail in order for them to send a security code. It's been nearly an hour and they still haven't sent me a code to verify my identity. No drop-down menu to change my telephone number.

I wanted to update my phone number. When I went to "update security info" the promt came up saying they'd text my old phone a verification code so I can update the info. I don't have the number anymore, so that really does me no good. I can't add numbers or alternate email addresses without a verification code that will be sent to a number that is no longer mine. Microsoft customer support is basically just an automated reply. I think the lesson I've learned is to just use Gmail.

Unfortunately I carnt fo into any axxount settings like change password or phone number or so as I'm om an app on my tablet and theres not options and I forgot my password so carnt so it via online web also when trying to reset my password its nit possible beucase they want to send me a code via a new email account not the old one and everytime I try it set up anew one it wants to send my a verification code during the process to the email address account that u havent evan finished setting up what an absolute shambles so I can no longer change password or phone number or cannot evan create an account I swear things were so mucth easier years back
