The Easiest Way to Help Other People: Blake Canterbury at TEDxBend

Blake is the Founder and CEO of beremedy -- the simplest way to help other people. beremedy is an organization that uses social media to connect those in need with those that can help. It's based on the concept that there are the resources in every community to meet the needs of that community. beremedy has been named one of the "3 best twitter usages worldwide" by CNN (3/20/11). beremedy was one of the leading organizations in bringing aid to Haiti after the earthquake using social media to network organizations, the UN and U.S. Marines. Through social media they have been able to help thousands of people and they're just getting started.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. See the need, be the remedy. I love that! For two years I have been working on a project to take physically challenged individuals for a bicycle ride. I would be lying if I told you it has all been unicorns and cotton candy! I have questioned my sanity and purpose more than once. I remember that flood. Soo many family's that lost homes it was so sad. Half the people that went to my school at the time were staying in hotels because their homes were just ruined. I just stumbled upon this talk in 2020 and i cant help but say that you are doing a commendable job. Often times I think how beautiful the world would be if we all could carry the purity of our hearts that we had in our childhood to the point when we go to our grave. How should i start this kind of work in my own country? Collaborate with the local not-for-profit organizations? Is there any way to this as a full time job? What should i do, any suggestions?

This was awesome! Very inspiring! I want to start helping and giving to others after watching this. Now I just need to take action and fulfill that feeling and make it a reality. This is usually the hardest step, as I know it is and has been for me most of my life! But if we start small and local it can be done.
