I used to love reading books when i was a preteen, i still love it but back then i would swallow up book. We barely had the time to buy them that i would finish them, now i take so long and struggle with reading. I hate it so much because i love books so much and i don't know how or why this has changed .. i've always had adhd, even back then... only thing is i stopped for 4 ish years because school caught up and i wasn't able to find time anymore...

What I started doing was reading really fast. Like as fast as I can. It helps because when I read fast there's no way of distracting myself with other things. I first realized this works when I noticed that when people speak fast and loud, it catches a glimpse of my attention and I can understand a full frase like that. So, reading fast and trying to do everything I can to scream for my attention on the book works for me, because it forces me to not pay so much attention at everything in the room or in my mind at once. You see, if you're talking to someone and all of a sudden a big explosion happens nearby, all of your attention goes to that on the moment. That's just an example, a metafor, i guess. I hope it makes sense and it helps somebody

I'm 22 and I still find reading very hard, ( i am going through a diagnosis of this), I also have ocd, bpd and depression, so yes there are lots of things that get in the way of me focussing.

I hardly read 20 pages an hour. I am slow reader and i re-read nearly every sentence. I hate it.

Ok my son has ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dysgraphia. Trying to get the teachers to listen and try new strategies is more difficult then teaching my son. I have done so many seminars and classes on line as well have read so much trying to find a way to get my son to retain what he needs to it's crazy. But the writing is a huge struggle. Trying to get him to write is a mission in it's self.

I feel like crying cause it all makes sense why I find reading uncomfortable and because lack of stimulation. So it's like pulling teeth.

It's always helped me to go on walks and read at the same time so this makes total sense to me

I started to read for fun after my last french class at 20 years old (I'm french speaking). My son is 7 years old and school is very hard for him. He has good grade but clearly have some issue with reading and writing compaired to what's expected. He has above normal IQ but ADHD... been there done that, I hated school soo much but I managed to became and engineer without studing much. I found out I'm also ADHD after my son was diagnosed. I understand so much of my life knowing that and I understand him also. having high IQ makes us acheive good results even with ADHD. but it's not like that for everyone.

I have ADHD, and I find it EXTREMELY difficult to watch this video. It should be an ASMR video.

I think meditation can help us with being more still and okay with passive activities, however us adhd inherently are unable to change it..therefore we try to work with our brains

I am 35 years old and the doctors said i would out grow it. And i was called a problem child in grade school. I am from an indian reservation (navajo) and ADHD/learning disabilities are relativity new to my tribe and my community. So, throughout school i was labeled a problem child.
