When Coyote Attacks Dog..It Snatch It in Second

For some reason, coyotes and dogs have always hated one another. Coyotes are usually the malicious ones,

Sometimes even fences and walls cant keep a coyote out of your yard. Watched a vid featuring a coyote jumping onto the top of an 8 ft wall and into a back yard, where they promptly grabbed a full grown cat and easily got back over the wall while carrying the cat in their jaws. I have since installed an electric fence onto the top of my back yard wire fence.

As the past companion of a beautiful, gentle and sweet Coydog, I would have to disagree that dogs and coyotes ALWAYS try to kill one another. Some dog obviously had something more gentle on his mind when he impregnated the coyote that gave birth to my sweet Josie. I've never missed one of my canine companions as much as I miss her since her passing four months ago. When I rescued her as a puppy (assumed she and her sister had been abandoned by someone in town and had no idea she was a hybrid at the tine) from the desert outside the town I live in in southern Baja, I thought I was doing her the favor, only to find out after 12 years of her constant companionship that it was me who was favored by her presence in my life. I won't say the Coydog breed is common, but there are enough of them around on the internet to indicate that even though dogs and coyotes have different "heat" cycles, sometimes they do match up. The breed has a lot of common traits: very shy around strangers, very gentle, extremely intelligent and VERY independent. Josie would only come when called if she felt like it, she did everything on HER time, not mine. She brought a lot of beauty and joy to my life by just being herself and if I ever get the chance to adopt another Coydog, I won't hesitate, though the breed is NOT for everyone. Their independence can get under the skin of inpatient companions, and that can create serious problems.

Got Great Danes. The Coyote packs around here watch from a distance then scoot. The Danes don’t pay much attention. coyotes 40 pounds. Danes 160.

My Pit mix used run with packs of coyotes for 5 to 10 minutes every morning for several years on a private Country Club near my home. People would see her out there and were very surprised how they seemed to be having a great time. Then of course some of the members complained and we were banned. It was fun and surreal while its lasted.

My 1year old Dogo encountered two coyotes, he was a puppy and thought they wanted to play. When they attacked he realized boundaries they both suffered the consequences.

My 105 lb brendal, Stanford shire terrior( pitbull) got baited by 2 coyotes and chased them into woods...she came home 20 minutes later, carrying the jawbone of one of the coyotes. I truly believe she wanted me to know what she did. 😮

I used to have 3 German Shepherds. Never had a problem with coyotes. They all ran like hell, with my female Shepard, who was the fastest of the 3 biting them on their hind quarters as they tried to get away. All of them did, but I don’t believe any of those coyotes ever revisited us again.

City dogs have no chance or instinct to kill a coyote but a dog that has hunted, fought and killed before has a better chance. Collars make it easy for other animals to kill domestic pets. I had a 60 pound short hair dog. It was fast and what suprised me while driving the tractor in the field this one and a half years old dog was chasing rabbits out of the bush and running them down in the field.At 3 years of age he started killing coyotes. Coyotes never made noise around the farm for many years after.
