Encounter between coyote and pit bull at park caught on video

A man recorded a confrontation between a coyote and his pit bull while at a park in Chula Vista.

Coyote knows that every ballpark has a sign that says "No Dogs Allowed." But it doesn't have any sign for coyotes.

Acts all tough when facing a pit, but falls apart chasing a roadrunner.

"I'm an animal lover" but it takes the dude half a minute to see if his dog would tear apart the coyote. Once he saw the dog was running away he steps in.

The 10 seconds is called "eye fighting." The one who looks away first loses. It is a sign of weakness. So the coyote won the eye fight and became physically aggressive .

The pit bull lost the staring contest and run away giving the coyote the confidence to chase his dinner. That coyote was big and fearless and jumped of the fence like a ten time Olympic gold champion.

Never interrupt/call your dog when it is faced with a predator. You are basically giving your dog a death sentence.

Actually it looks like the coyote may have just been trying to get across the park initially. He hops the fence, then the Pitbull comes into camera view charging him. If the coyote wanted the dog it would not have stopped. The coyote proved his point and went his way. I love how the dog owner saw the coyote coming from a distance, got his phone out to see the fight, and calls himself an animal lover. Your pit did not look like it wanted to fight.
