ON CAMERA: Coyote attacks little dog out on walk with young owner

On July 20 in Scarborough, 10-year-old Lily was on a walk in the morning with her yorki when they were attacked by a neighbourhood coyote.

That girl just left her dog for dead, the dog was terrified and wasn’t defending anything but it’s own life. Shame on the parents for allowing this situation to happen, irresponsible pet owners.

Saw the actual footage, and she's literally a 10 year old child--I don't blame her. She tried to get the Yorkie to run, but it was in defensive mode.

Given that the area had warning signs about coyote attacks, her parents NEVER should have put her or the dog in that situation by having their daughter walk the dog alone.

Idk if I'd be able to run away and leave my dog to fight back like that alone. I'd rather die holding my dog up and get bit than watch it get rag dolled infront of me.

Not only did she not try to fight for him, but she had the indignation to run into the house, & close the door. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she locked it.

I guess that girl was too scared? But how could she completely abandon her dog?? She just dropped the leash and left the pup to fend for himself? Maybe it's just me... but I would do everything in my power to scare the coyote away and defend my dog.

Poor brave little Yorkie! How sad the owner left him alone. If only that girl would have yelled, screamed at it, stomped her feet and waved her arms (hazing), she might have run it off. Also, If she had picked the Yorkie up, the Coyote might have given up because the Yorkie would have looked like the biggest dog the Coyote ever saw!

I was walking my little westie and a coyote walked right past me about 10 feet away. If you run, you show fear and they will attack. Just stand your ground and keep walking confidently

It upsetting she left the dog to fend for itself but she's so young and afraid. What an awful situation.

she just leaves the yorkie to be a snack for the coyote. you gotta run at them aggressively. even the yorkie was scaring him off. moral of the story is dont put little kids in charge of little dogs where there are dangerous animals
