“Unfortunately my wife did not take it well.” 😒 No shit. She was unhappy to learn that her husband was sleeping with her best friend? She didn’t throw a party and ask how it was? Lord…

“He highlighted two incidents that we barely remember” classic case of the axe forgets but the tree remembers, I’m sure OP and her husband conveniently forgot all sorts of things.

Last story, they're UNBELIEVABLY lucky the son's not full no contact. "We only beat you, demeaned you, and treated you like you couldn't make decisions on your own! Why are you so mad?"

Last Story: Soo…Op’s son, despite the AWFUL parents he has is: successful, cares about his wife AND isn’t afraid to stand up to his awful parents. Sounds like this guy took all the pain from his childhood and realized he NEVER wants his children to feel like that.
Op is awful and her son sound amazing

I’m Indian. My parents claim they don’t remember ever doing anything to us. They conveniently don’t remember not allowing us to go anywhere, only hanging out with people approved by them, the beatings, the verbal abuse, and the manipulation. My parents are not as bad. Me and my siblings have some good memories with our parents, but there’s definitely more bad than good. I understand parenting is hard, especially trying to parent a child in your non native country. But at a certain point it’s just unacceptable. The audacity of some parents

"we barely remember" classic abusive parent excuse.

"Hello our son that we abused for ten years, how dare you show your wife affection in YOUR home"

Story 3: Reyne's far from a good person, but OP cheated on his wife with her anyway because he wanted the "excitement." Come on, OP, what were you expecting?

For the last story, that mom came to the realization far too late. You wished you had stepped on but didn`t, and as a result your husband mentally, physically, and emotionally abused your son. I wouldnt be surprised if he goes no contact with both of them.

Last story: Thank you for calling out OP on her blatant hypocrisy! She so genuinely thought she could pass 100% blame on the father when she was a parent “watching” this crap show take place. She’s just as liable for the abuse because she knew it was happening and yet did nothing. Shame on her!

Last story: If OP wants to patch things up so much, she can start by stop trying to sugarcoat everything. What he did was abuse, not tough love, not “ physical punishment”, just horrific abuse. How on earth do you describe picking up a child by the ears as tough love with a straight face? Because on the chance that is possible, the pain has to be unbearable.

And of course they don’t remember the worst of it, a lot of abusive parents always forget the worse of it. Or try to make it seem like it wasn’t as bad as it sounds, or only acknowledge enough to make it seem like you’re sorry without taking real responsibility because that’s how terrible it was.

And because this was the thing that started your son’s rant . You can do whatever he wants in his house at night supposed to be asleep. And next time confirm what you see before making a fool out of yourself. although I hope this is the beginning of NC.

Last story:When have abusers ever accurately remembered what they did? OP is lucky her Son still wants to allow them in his life, though after this it's questionable if he would want to remain in contact with both of them.

Story one: I don't blame the child that was born into this drama at all.

CA story :

I've been that child. I've started taking the belt as soon as 5-6 or so. For "lying about breaking the heater" (my 5yo brain thought soaking my heart plushie would make it cooler than just opening the window) and leaving drops of water on the ground.

We do remember, but they don't, because for them, it's just another Tuesday in education-city. The axe will never remember, and you shouldn't except them to, hence they do not deserve any forgiveness in the first place. They always want to turn back time because they saw the results. Not because they know it's what they did is evil. That's rough to say, but I hope the child never forgives his parents.

Story 1: While OP is a disgusting cheater, that poor baby doesn't deserve this. Now that baby's only going to know a broken home, and that's not ok. I know OP is an ass for cheating, but Annie is hurting the child more than anyone. She is an asshole

The 1st story is straight up evil. Cheaters are truly awful and seeing revenge gotten on them often feels great, but that revenge needs to be constructed from real wrongdoings and not by fabricating lies and destroying a child’s future in the process. The ex definitely sank beneath the level of the OPs cheating in this case.

The dad in the last story sounds like my dad. My dad was a diagnosed sociopath. He used to pick me up by my hair and throw me into the walls. He "accidentally" almost killed myself and all of my siblings except the youngest. That guy's dad is seriously messed up.

No, yeah, I kinda disagree on Story 1.

Yes, OP is an AH, and deserves to have consequences for his actions. HOWEVER. The ex was actually AWFUL for this - she set him up and destroyed his family out of spite. It doesn't matter if the keychain wasn't worth much, she threatened to throw it away if he didn't get the thing on that day. Imagine if you had some little plush toy, or a book, or something like that, that your grandfather had given you, that was absolutely precious to you. It doesn't matter if it's worth $2 million or two cents, it's horrible to throw it away. And then when he went to get an item that is precious to him, she used it to ruin his life. Honestly, the man probably could go for slander / defamation / whatever the word is charges - especially since she outright mentioned messages that presumably don't exist (which IIRC is provable???).

(NOTE: this is all assuming OP is honest about what happened, which granted, no way to know for sure.)

The ex literally destroyed a family and likely ruined a child's life for revenge.

I'm not convinced Jess's child deserves it. The rest of them pretty much do, including Jess.

Another matter is that we don't know what actually happened. I do find the timing suspicious though. I've heard many stories of cheating on a pregnant wife. Not a single one of cheating on them less than 24h after birth. OP could probably sue for defamation and demand that Annie show the rest of their chats.

Okay. So um the keychain is pretty hypocritical. Don’t you have sentimental value in magnets that stick to fridges? I’m not calling you out it’s just that people may have value in things that don’t seem so valuable

Like the lucky rock story.

She told him if he doesn’t get it she’ll throw it away which was a terrible move

Yes he cheated but come on. She just destroyed a family.

First Story : Might be the only time I'm siding with the Cheater who is in the wrong in the story.
Annie is a C-word.
