Hard Drive Wont Mount? | How to Fix a Corrupted Drive on Mac!

Richard, I want to send you my sincerest thank you for this video. This is the first time I have EVER commented on a YouTube video, and this tutorial is now the reason why. My external hard drive suddenly stopped mounting on my laptop (and a backup laptop too). My whole life from 2016 to now was on it, and the thought of losing it all sent me into a depressed tailspin. So much so that it was literally making me nauseous.

I tried downloading recovery software, which was scanning the hard drive for hours, yet found nothing. I was at a complete loss for what to do so searched on YouTube and found this video. Following your tutorial fixed the problem completely and I could not be happier. You do not know how grateful I am for you posting this.

I have used this twice now. LaCie drive stopped mounting when my mac book pro died unexpectedly.

for lacie drives you must input ExFAT instead of hfs.

Richard, if my drive is showing up as "Disk 6" do I use that code instead of the "Disk 2" ?

Thanks man. I tried this but no joy. The same external hard drive works on my old mac but wont show up on the new mac. Tried the force mount via terminal but no success. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!
