This makes no sense. It instructs you to click on the external HD if you cant find it in Disk Utilities. But, I cant find it in Disk Utilities because it also is NOT SHOWING UP on the DESKTOP.

I plugged my hard drive that I always used on my Mac to my iPhone 15 Pro; I copied something from the drive to my iPhone files app. I the returned days after doing so to my Mac, plugging the drive to it and it stopped reading it. Can I do something to fix it, o have I lost everything I had on the drive? :((

Actually first aid solved the problem, but it needs time to finish it up. i waited for approximately 20-25 min on my macbook air M1 thank you for the video.

when i plug my WD passport into my MBP M3, it doesnt even turn on, the light doesnt work. and it is now showing up in Disk Utility. When i plug it into a PC it works fine. ???

I have a Mac Mini 2014 and installed the latest Monterey OS....I used a wired key board as installed bootcamp and then used my Logitech wired keyboard to use both systems....unbeknown to me my logitech wireless mouse and keyboard prevented me from seeing external drives on Monterey I removed the wireless keyboard and attached a generic wired keyboard I could see all the external drives attached to Mac drove me nuts

Make sure your Mac is plugged in as a lot of higher capacity drives need that extra juice. Then get it a few mins to register.
