No other version will ever compare to this classic. The acting, directing, scenery, romance, humor, this movie has it all!

Gil fell in love and STAYED in love with Anne for 15 years, even after he proposed and she rejected him, even when she was going out with Roy, even when everyone thought he and Christine were engaged. Lord help me, I pray to find a man like this!! 😍😍😍😍

"It's not what the world holds for you. It's what you bring to it." that's such a beautiful quote! ❤

The look on Gil's face when they kiss then hug! I bet he was thinking "She loves me!"

“I don’t want sunbursts or marble halls, I just want you”. That line has stayed with me for 35-years and that scene is still one of my all time favourite scenes.

I'm till so proud to say as a Canadian that this was produced in my country and to this day is considered the BEST out of all the ANNE Of GREEN GABLES series or movies done!

I'm sorry but their chemistry is superior. It's natural, simple and believable. I've never found a better Gilbert and Anne than these two. They will be forever the Gilbert and Anne i will imagine when i read the books. Love them with all my heart❤

I love Johnathan's expression after he hugs Anne. He completely captures Gil's feeling of at last she is mine. Although in the books he proposes one last time at a garden Anne finds with the girls from Avonle and one she met at Redmond.

This scene has got to be one of the most romantic ever. I'm always transfixed...just beautiful.

Honestly I sometimes wish I lived in this time, because it was so beautiful and natural, and they had clean air and bright days with stary nights, and gentlemen like Gilbert who would actually treat a girl right, would respect her and get respect back. It entrants me and it's so beautiful.

Edit: So a lot of people are attacking me for basically either being uneducated or thinking men suck. Listen, I'm really not trying to offend anyone here. I know that times were horribly rough back then. I'm not stupid. I don't think all men are pieces of shit. Alright? Please, I just wanted to post a soft comment. I really wasn't expecting this much hate, and I'm trying my best to respond to the comments to extend my point of view. A few were unnecessarily rude. If you're going to state your opinion/facts, don't be rude about it, or you lose all respect. Many comments gave me their side very respectfully, and I responded to the best of my ability. I know things were very hard back then, and I know there was racism, homophobia, and tons more. And no, I am NOT white. There was absolutely no reason for that. I was not expecting this at all, and I apologize for offending anyone.

Okay, so this is my last edit on this comment. I've decided to leave the rest up for anyone who comes across this and wants to understand what this apology means. When I wrote this comment, it meant something dear to me. But I have since realized I was wrong in not addressing the other half. Once I began getting more comments, I panicked, because I wasn't quite sure what to do. So I want to apologize to whoever this has offended. I realize the pain and suffering many went through in those times. The words I had been looking for in the previous edits, but hadn't yet put my finger on, are these: 'vintage style, not vintage values'. I should have mentioned this sooner, and instead I made it a problem. So I am sorry. I acted childishly, and I regret it now. This comment has been in my thoughts for the past few nights, and I wanted to address it, because it needed to be addressed. As a person of colour, a woman, and someone who belongs to the LGBTQ+ community (all three of which were oppressed and had many rights taken away in these times), I made a mistake. So, once again, I am sorry. Have a nice day. <3

Such a romantic proposal! I pray my daughter finds a Gilbert who respects her for who she is, loves her unconditionally, and supports the gifts that she has to offer :)

I remember watching this scene when I was just 15 years old, and my heart bursting with joy at their pure and innocent love!
