I can't imagine marrying someone I don't trust with finances

It’s important to have at least 3-6 months of emergency cars.

We have emergency funds, not emergency cars.

I dont understand how it is so common for people to think that they need a backup car. I have never heard anyone say this before this show.

Having one extra car is a good idea. But not enough to get into debt over.

Maybe daily drive a beater type car for work and have an suv handy for family outings or hauling stuff around town.
Only if you financially reliable to do so.

I have become so obsessed with listening to Caleb. I’m financially OK now, but I wish that I was taught all this when I was in junior high & high school. I don’t know why it’s not required.

I was going to be a teacher. I make more at a call center. I can’t imagine making that little plus having student loans after years of teaching. It’s too bad teachers don’t make more.

I can't imagine asking a parent to co-sign a car loan when you're married and in your 30s with kids.

An emergency vehicle is okay if you could afford it. Our family old second vehicle cost like 10K and both vehicle (hubby's and mine) are fully paid off.
So when hubby offer to change my old car (i rarely use it) obviously i said no, as it wouldn't be a wise financial decision. I rather have the money in the bank.

I used to work for a guy who said always have an emergency car, because he once got into a situation where his car broke down, he called his boss saying he wouldn’t be able to make it to work on time, and he fired him on the spot, even after explaining his car was busted.

An emergency vehicle is very important for us poors in rural areas. You do not need that 80s Mercedes in any situation unless you are wealthy and a car collector.

Having several cars, I do not know how people manage multiple vehicles without doing the labor themselves. Honestly if I didn't save so much doing all the work myself we'd have one, maybe two vehicles max.

My husband and i both have our own cars. His is almost paid in full and i bought mine in cash. Its definitely been a blessing to have them both. One time our previous apartment complex had towed his because they entered his plates wrong, I could take him to work still having mine. It’s been a big blessings whenever our daughter needed to go to the hospital and I had mine when he was at work. We definitely wouldnt survive without an emergency fund 💯 even with both cars… tires popped? Had to travel unexpectedly? Medical bills etc. couldve done it with one car, but not without emergency fund.

The proudest thing we purchased, we needed help from his mom. 😂

It makes sense to have 2 cars so you can split up. But you don't need more in case one breaks down. What do you do in that case? You carpool with your spouse for a week, you take the bus, you walk, you work from home, you borrow a car, whatever it takes, it is not the end of the world.
Many mechanics offer a loaner while yours is getting fixed, often built into the cost of the repairs which is great if the insurance is a dick about paying for that stuff.

Ah strong disagree there Caleb. There's nothing wrong with an emergency vehicle, assuming you're not in debt for it. An older, paid off car is a lifesaver when your newer car breaks down. Rentals get expensive quickly. Also, I live in south Texas with hurricane threats and I have an emergency truck; there's plenty of places my F150 can get that my CR-V just can't. I would say having both an emergency fund and car are important, if you have the space.

My moms suv got repaired under warranty and it would’ve been like 17k to fix so idk what fuckin emergency fund you’re expecting these two to magically have to cover something like that plus a month and a half of rentals
