Every time someone listens to this song for the first time, an angel gets its wings.

"Piece of my Heart" and "Cry Baby" are sensational too.

This was written by Kris Kristoferson, but Janis made it her own.

This song came out after she died. Was her only #1 single . RIP Janis

Janis was a Texas girl with lots of soul and passion in her powerful voice. Tragically she is part of the 27 Club. Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain all deid at 27 years of age. 😢 This song was written by singer/songwriter and actor, Kris Kristofferson. ✌❤🌹

My mom was blessed enough to attend Woodstock. So she was able to see Janis play. She says Woodstock was the most memorable moment of her life😇

Yes she died at 27. Just imagine all the songs we could have had otherwise. Just to young to leave this world.

One-of-a-kind Janice! One of the best blues singer ever! Gone too young at 27 yrs of age!

I remember when they told me she was dead I just stopped what I was doing and cried. Most of her fans called her Pearl and she was one of a kind. Her song Take another little piece of my heart is my favorite. This one is a close second.❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️🎼❤️

You really need to do Janis Joplin at Monterey. When they pan the crowd, the woman who can’t believe what she is hearing is MAMMA CASS, a star with the voice of an angel.

I saw Janis at the Monterey Music Festival in the late 60’s. I was totally blown away like Cass Elliot. “Ball and Chain” is my favorite Joplin song.

Take another peice of my heart Janis 's version is the standard that all others compare

Janis never sang a song she didn't pour her entire being into. "Ball and Chain" and "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)" are great examples, but honestly, you can't go wrong whatever you choose to listen to. For something a little different try her song "Mercedes Benz."

I am definitely trying to incorporate "fiddlesticking" into my regular vocabulary.

Janis sung from her heart and soul, truly an amazing voice. She knew the blues first-hand and bared her soul with each performance. Check out Janis at Monterey doing Summertime and Ball & Chain, it's iconic.

When she sings "A Woman Left Lonely" you can feel every bit of that hurt.

That voice! She still had a lot to offer the world. Sad to lose a talent like hers at 27.
