“Freedom is just another word for nothin left to lose!” One of the greatest lyrics of all time!

Looks like you were having a religious experience listening to Janis singing Bobby McGee. This is what good music can do to people.

Written by Kris Kristofferson. It was the last song she recorded before she died. Sad. It's a great album. Try Mercedes Benz - it's a fun song. Move Over is good.

Whether you like her, love her, or hate her, nobody ever sounded like Janis...before or since.

I met a girl who sang the blues and I asked her for some happy news, but she just smiled and turned away

"I'd trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday of holding Bobby's body next to mine." One of the greatest lines of all time, and this is one of the greatest recordings of all time. A song written by the legendary Kris Kristofferson and taken to majestic heights by Janis. This was from Janis' second (and final) solo album, the brilliant Pearl. Sadly, she didn't live long enough to enjoy the fruits of her labor, as she died shortly before the album was released. Janis was already a star, but she achieved superstardom after death, so much so that most people don't even realize that when they hear Janis singing on the radio, most of those songs are not actually her songs but are from when she was the lead singer of Big Brother & The Holding Company.

Janice was more than a singer. She was an experience. RIP Girl. Jay, your reaction was priceless.

Janis turned pain into poetry. She never rolled over, stood strong and kicked it out.

You ARE in a church when Janis is singing and that organ gets going!! This is my favorite Janis song. I knew you’d love it! I sing it all the time. Kris Kristofferson wrote it. He wrote so many of other artists’ best songs! He sang this one too, but Janis’ version is best. It was released after she died & hit number 1. I have to make another request for Big Mama Thornton too, since she was Janis Joplin’s biggest influence! I can’t pick a favorite but lately I listen to “My Heavy Load” all the dang time. My grandpa recorded several of her earliest singles & those are all great, too, especially “Hound Dog” & “Let Your Tears Fall, Baby.” But it’s her later work that influenced Janis Joplin more, like “Ball and Chain, ” which Janis covered beautifully. These ladies are two of the best ever!! PS. One of my other favorites that Kris Kristofferson wrote is Sunday Morning Coming Down by Johnny Cash. What a poet!

Raw, naked emotion wrapped in extraordinary talent and a one of a kind voice...Janis

She was extraordinary. Sad fact: this song was her only #1 song and was released AFTER she died. The son'gs author, Kris Kristofferson, didn't even know she had recorded it until he heard her studio tape the day after she died. What a wonderful musician, one of my favorites- check out some of her appearances on the Dick Cavett talk her personality was warm & honest and badass, just like her singing

This song was written by Kris Kristopherson, who wrote a bunch of great songs. One of my favorites is Sunday Morning Coming Down. Johnny Cash has a great cover of it.

Bette Midler did a beautiful movie in late 70s, with an awesome soundtrack, in honor of her life... called *The Rose* 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
