This was a surprisingly fun movie. It gets ridiculous in some parts, but seeing WWII tanks fight is always cool.

Why is the German tank commander wearing a beard like he's a U-boat captain 5 months at sea?

Seeing German tanks other than Tigers in a WW2 movie is refreshing.

It appears that WWll was the last war in which troops of any nation wore uniforms that were either traditional or copies of traditional uniforms with all the elaborate embroidery. Take look at the German tank commander. That uniform would have been out of place today. Everything now is strictly camo and practicality.

Such a good movie! I love that it doesn't treat the Germans as too comically evil, entertaining combat and good actors overall

I don't know everything about German WWII tank tactics, but I highly doubt they would have humped a tank column without scouts and infantry support into a town that appeared to be cleared out. If they were that stupid, they would not have taken nearly as much of Europe as they did. Hiding the tank in the haystack was a smart way to get one shot on the German column. The hay offered no protection and the flash would have given away their position on the first shot. There is about a 500% probability that would have drawn fire from multiple Panzers faster than they could back up and retreat.

People below talk about "Fury." That was a good movie, but it had some unrealism too. The scene in the field where the machinegun nests were set up in the open even though there were thick woods or hedgerows behind them was cinematically a cool looking scene, but the Germans were masters at shooting from locations that couldn't be seen. The only protection the nests would have had from the American 75mm tank guns would have been to hide deep enough in the woods that the gun flashes couldn't be seen. The concept of "if you can see your enemy, he can see you" was well known at that point.
