I owned a 1981 Ford F-150 with the 300 CID engine. It was slow as molasses but it was a good working truck.

That 300 six was bullet proof, my favorite engine.👍

Never thought id agree with scotty kilmer, had an 85 with the 300 that i bought from the original owner, he told me the odometer had already rolled over four times. At 462k miles now and still good as new, dosent leak or burn a drop of oil, and still has 110 psi or more in every cylinder. Hands down the best gas burning engine ever put into a truck. Just ask anyone thats had one and theyll tell you the same.

I had an 87, an 89 and a 91 ford truck with that engine. Awesome dependable trucks. Slow, don't get great fuel mileage. But an awesome strong engine.

My grandpa had an 81 f150 with the 300 and a 5 speed manual, drove it for over 10 years with a bad starter (would always park on an incline and roll start) and never changed the oil while he had it. Was still going strong when he got rid of it.

I had a 300 Cid straight 6 in a Econoline camper / van. Best Ford engine that I ever had . I lived in Northern Ontario at the time, extreme cold, and it always started and ran well.

They're from back in the days when they made them better with a lot less technology to go wrong. They're a real truck fan's truck. 👍👍👍

I bought a new 83 Ford Bronco with the 4.9 300 straight six and drove it across country from mass. to cali and it never let me down ! The truck was a torque monster in four low 4x4 and I sold it with 220, 000 miles on it the only thing i did is replace the water pump and change the oil and plugs , what a great truck it was ...

I just saw a video of a guy who ran the Ford 7.3 that he turned into an entire RV starting with the F-350 Chassis, thats a reliable strong engine right there as well!

Yuppies ruined pickup trucks. The 300ci inline six was bullet proof. My first truck had no power windows, no power locks, no cruise control. Just an am radio and power steering.

I had a lot of friends back in the early 90's who had 70's and 80's Ford 4x4's with 300's and Chevys with 250's. I had an 84 Chevy with a 292 straight six. Loved all those engines!

90s OBS’s work beautifully too. My grandpa has a single cab 1995 f150 Eddie Bauer edition that he’s had for 24 years. It’s been non-garage kept pretty much its whole life so the body is rotting away and is pretty much gone, but the 5.0 v8 was in it runs like a clock other than a small misfire

All of those trucks are selling for 6k and up for rust buckets. Market is ridiculous up here in Canada

Per instructions from my independent mechanic, I’m keeping my 2001 3/4t Silverado 6.0 for life. Strong, robust, dependable.
