I've watched this video and the first one at least a half dozen times. I've taken down notes and tomorrow morning I'm going to inspect my first new (used) truck purchase in Tifton GA. Thank you so very much for the channel and great information you provide. Steve, thank you as well for all the straight forward no BS insight you provide.

This mechanic is the man! Watched his first video with the red freightliner. Been keeping my eyes peeled for bad quantity control valves ever since.

I've trucking for a long time and can remember when you could not give a series 60 Detroit ( 12.7) away and now every body wants them. I have a 1999 volvo with a 500 horse 12.7 and love it.

get mad at me Can we get some more interviews with Hard gentleman has so much knowledge that's untapped and he gives it to the driver in a way where he doesn't talk down to you. I know he loves trucking but he's a guy that might have to be featured on your podcast bi weekly or monthly but there are alot of drivers that are willing to learn and you and your growing forum would be the perfect jump off for young drivers to get this information!!! He doesn't charge, you don't charge so drivers get there information and knowledge. Hard Hustle pulls out dam right he keeps great records!!!! Appreciate you again and your hard work

Could you have Steve pretend he's someone's mechanic and looking over the truck for them before purchasing and just a step by step of how he would inspect it. Or maybe what he looks for before LRM purchases one? Hopefully you see this and help us have some peace of mind before buying a semi, thank you Alex!

best combo I've ever drove. 12.7 detroit 550hp/2050tq, 13spd double o, 3.36 rears .

Alex!!! Easy way to figure out how much it costs. Take your "guess" for the part and multiply by 3.25, if you end up paying less than that for the job then you got a good deal.

Every successful fleet owner that’s been at it for over 20 years I’ve ever talked to (5 of them) says the same thing as far as equipment goes: if you’re running OTR the best driveline is: either a 12.7 dd60 or N14 Cummins, a 10 speed roadranger with the C ratio set (this is important!!!!), and either Rockwell or Eaton 40k rears in a 4.10/4.11 ratio. This combo will last forever and when they do fail, each component is cheap and easy to find, fix or replace. I’ve seen several C ratio 10 speeds with over 1.25 million miles on them that are still quiet and tight, you’ll hardly ever see that with a 13 or 18, let alone an auto shift. The 15 speeds are also a good option being as they’re built off a 10 but they add weight and they don’t make them in the high torque ratings that you can get in a 10 to keep up with the 1, 500 lb-ft plus engines on the road today.

I regret getting rid off my 04 Columbia w a CAT15...I had a clouded and short sided vision. I love manual trans, it will never compare to automatics.
