How To Release a Stiff Upper Back | Ed Paget

I've seen so many people recently who are complaining of tight upper backs. Maybe this is due to the changed working conditions that COVID has given us or maybe it's stress. Either way this is one of my go exercises for releasing the upper back.
I use a dowel to mobilize the back in six different directions.
You can do it kneeling on both knees or standing but I find this split kneeling positions best at it helps open up and mobilize the hips at the same time.
The mid back is the area we are focusing on here, as this is the area that has the most potential to 'cease' up. When this happens the lower back and the neck will be forced to do more movement, essentially the movement that the mid back no longer does. This is one of the reasons why so many people suffer from low back and neck pain.
Do yourself a favour and mobilize your mid back today!
