"body positivity is not for you" feels like a way to make body dysmorphia worse

As a black woman, I rip my hair out every time they compare racism and fatphobia.

I’m balding 👩🏾‍🦲

"Body Positivity is not for you" is the most ironic sentence i've heard all month

When I was in Middle School, every year a local lady who had survived the Holocaust would come and speak. She showed us her tattoo, the star she had to wear before they were sent to camps. She told the story of the last moments she was with her family before they were sent to the camps. No one else in her family was sent to the work camps; they were deemed 'not usable.' To compare that with not being able to fit on a bus is disgusting.

"We don't want to be denied surgeries." Do these people think they're being denied surgeries for fun? All surgeries are dangerous, and excess body fat greatly increases that risk.

I'm a black woman, and I find it rather insulting that it's being assumed that being a black woman is synonymous with being fat.

The way that people use us black women, as an example in their oppression Olympics disturbs me to no end. Please stop.

comparing a literal genocide to not getting your size in a clothing store is BAFFLING

Im black, trans, and fat. I've NEVER felt threatened because of my size. I've never felt like people were going to physically harm me or treat me severely differently because of how my body looks. I *have*, however, felt that fear based on my race and queer identity. I've lived all of them, and they are NOT the same. Have i felt insecure, uncomfortable, about my size? At times, absolutely. But it's not the same as being verbally abused because of which bathroom im using or keeping my eyes on cops at all times if im in a certain town.

I don't understand comparing yourself to disabled people in terms of accessibility but also saying "don't call me sick or disabled"

I LOVE when people say “I shouldn’t have to explain why” because quite obviously that shows that they wouldn’t be able to explain why and just try to shut down that portion of the conversation, it’s hilarious to me and I refuse to take a person like that seriously 😂😂

I had to deal with a person who sat next to someone on the tube yesterday. They were obese; and the lady she sat next too moved a seat along. The obese women started then having a go at her “are you afraid to be touched by my fat, your the problem with this world” on and on, meanwhile this women is starting to panic, later I asked if she is okay and she had to explain how she has a anxiety disorder and Asperger’s, in which she does not like to be toughed. It was so horrid to see her panic all due to this one persons anger and flat out judging.

as a black girl I'm tired of them using black people as a way to get more sympathy or something just to get their points across

when will larger people stop comparing their journeys to POC. there’s literally no reason to do that.

Uno reverse card: several mental illnesses are classified as disabilities under the ADA, and the creator saying "just because you have a mental illness doesn't mean you're in a marginalized body" and then going on to mention disability as being a marginalized body is, in fact, real ableism!

I’m supporting my best friend in her weight loss journey, and I can say without a doubt that these people who say “not everyone can afford the gym“ as an argument against losing weight are just wallowing in their self-pity.
When you’re over 250 lbs, the weight literally MELTS off with the slightest bit of exercise. My best friend and I go walking, which is free, and she’s already lost around 20 lbs. it’s not about money or class. It’s about motivation.

Omg, every time they mention "Fat Black Women" I am 100% sure they are thinking of a very stereotypically view of black women. They are definitely thinking all black women are like the sassy, fat, loud stereotype that used to be so popular in the media. They want a black woman to be like "oh nuh uh sista! You go girlfriend!" and do that snap and head bob thing, so they feel like the white main character in a movie or show with a black comic relief.

All I have to say...

After 9/11, my (veteran) father took me to a hotel to keep me from seeing the graffiti on our home that said "Sand N----ers Go Home" along with a letter threatening all of our lives.

I've never seen anything remotely like that for fat people. Okay....people don't want to date you. I was dumped for having a specific kind of nose. I'm not calling that oppression. Also, the fats don't talk about the fetish that wants to kill

The entitlement is insane.
