How about we rephrase it to “fat shaming and skinny shaming are both damaging to the person being shamed”.

This isnt a competition!! Both sucks, as a noticeable underweight/skinny person, it SUCKS getting skinny shamed. And im positive for overweight person it sucks to be fat shamed, this isnt "whose situation is worse! " we are all equal yall.
Thank you for reading this:)

In my opinion, skinny shaming is worse bc uts constantly overlooked. You fat shame someone and everyone comes for you, but if someone goes "oh your so skinny! I could just fit my fingers around your waist. Do you eat?" And no one says anything. Both are absolutely terrible, tho. We need to stop BODYSHAMING in gerneral.

Girl if someone calls me ugly, anorexic, twig, skin and bones, it hurts. Then I try to gain muscle or gain weight I just can’t. Why can’t people just understand body shaming hurts either way like damn.

As an overweight person: both Fat AND Skinny shaming are awful things to do. Yes, fat people do get shorter ends of the stick, but at the end of the day, both forms are extremely degrading and hurtful to a persons mental wellbeing.

As a person who is "skin and bone" I always have people telling me to eat when I eat perfectly fine

I was skinny shamed when I was younger, but it wasn’t how you would think. I was constantly told “you look like a twig” “I wish I had your body” when I was like 6-8 years old. Now I overeat so I DON’T get told that. It’s affected me as a person, and I refuse to get skinny ever again. Because it hurts when I’m told that. And now, I’M BEING FAT SHAMED. Because I’m a healthy weight, and everyone else is skinny.

i’m severely underweight and struggle with physically eating.

i have issues with people wishing they had my problem, issues seeking healthcare because they all think i’m anorexic (i’m not, i want to eat- but hate food), issues finding clothes that fit.

i think it’s just as bad.. but there is no need to discriminate our problems, we just need to help each other solve them

We’re not talking about equality… we’re talking about shaming.. fat shaming and skinny shaming ARE the same hurtful things.

Ok, skinny shaming still does happen. Like I can’t go to school without being called a twig or flat. Stop making this a competition. No one should be body shamed

Edit: Thanks y’all for the likes and also all of you are beautiful, they only thing that matters is being healthy and you feeling good about yourself :)
