We are the only species whose teeth don't fit into our own mouths.

The inability to keep our wisdom teeth is an apt analogy to the loss of wisdom around food.

Prior to modern food production, the fossil records show our jaws fully grew to accommodate all our teeth.

What happened?

Our ancestral, species-appropriate meat-based diet contained all the essential nutrients (especially fat-soluble vitamins) and stresses (chewing) to fully grow our craniofacial structures to enable all 32 teeth to fit in our jaws.

But the switch to a nutrient poor plant-based diet, composed of mush, doesn't give our body the raw material it needs to fully form our maxilla and mandible and thus accommodate all our teeth.

The resultant malocclusion and necessity of wisdom teeth extraction is the result of malnutrition.

Currently recovering from getting my wisdom teeth removed. If I didn’t, they would have grown diagonally into my molars and messed up my entire mouth. I’ll stick with a few days of pain and discomfort

Modern diets and mouth breathing have increased cases of recessed chins and and underdeveloped jawlines. This has lead to crowding in the mouth needing braces and sometimes removal of teeth. No?

a better comparison would be to say you were born with only 4 visible toes but 5 toe bones and as you grow the fifth toe bone starts to grow into your fourth toe bone and it makes your foot hurt. me personally i’d want them to take out that now technically extra bone if it meant stopping the discomfort 🤷🏽

I've never had any problems with my wisdom teeth. They weren't even growing in sideways or something like that. But my dentist convinced me of getting them out by scaring me, that it's going to be really painful. The removal itself was painful, plus after the removal I've only had problems with my jaw. Like bone loss and asymmetrical face (especially visible when I smile or laugh). However I've also had braces, so maybe this contributes to it, Idk. But yes, I think it's definitely a big money maker for dentists, in the first place.

It's normal, cause bad chewing and food habits and bad genetics lead to teeth complications.

I was born without sockets for my upper wisdom teeth!?

Hi Dr.Kevin, I currently have both upper wisdoms….They did come in “crooked” w/ one 50% through - the other 25% through. One Broke😢 left w /a subsequent hole in the toothe . I immediately filled the hole with Dentek Temparin max .Should I have the broken tooth fixed and keep the wisdom teethe ? Or just have them removed now 😔

then what am i supposed to do if they don’t fit in my mouth lol 😭 my mom doesn’t have her “little toes”. i only have half my “little toes” ?? so bad analogy, i think

This applies to normal healthy wisdom teeth that cause no pain. Some dentists will want to remove them to make $$$$. However if they are impacted and causing infections, they should be 100% removed.
