When building financial models, I've found that the layout from raw data to reporting systems is critical. The design needs to have a clear audit trail. FORMULATEXT & ISFORMULA are powerful tools in building this audit trail. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Mike. I still use Excel 2010 at work so I had to create a UDF to show my formulas. Pretty easy to do of course. Function FT(MyCell as range) ^CR FT = MyCell.Formula^CR End Function. Now I just need to enter =IF(ISFORMULA(A2), FT(A2), "")

Well Mike, I think this video deserves a golden edge!! I think I will use this formula from now on very often.
As a lecturer in class, how often was I requested to put the cursor on a cell with a complex formula. This is a real timesaver! Also for the students in the back rows, who find it difficult to read the formula bar. Windows-+ (scope) is not so good. Mike can you add a video how to put this formula in all new worksbooks with a button? So in a default template? Thank you so much!

The fun never stops here! :)  Would there be any difference if I enclosed FORMULATEXT in IFERROR formula to show zero-length string when a formula is not present,  as below? =IFERROR(FORMULATEXT(A1), "")

Do you know about CTRL ~ (tilda) which will show all the cell formulas instead of values (CTRL~ again toggles it off)? I recently discovered it. Thanks for another great video.
