When an old person takes time to response, it don't mean they have no an immediate reply.
It means they take a longer time to re-run the scenario in their head to re-evaluate the case and come up with an answer.
Older people are sometimes slower in responding, so patience is advised.

Surahs to read before sleep
1. 2 last ayahs of surah Al baqarah
2. Surah al sajda(We don't know it's benefit, but our Prophet used to recite it before sleep)
3.Surah Al mulk (protects you from punishment of grave)
4.Surah Al kafiroon(protects you from shirk)
5.Ayatul kursi.(Protects you from shaytan)
6. Surah Al Falaq, Surah Al nas, Surah Al ikhlas ( u cup ur hands and blow in them then recite them 1 time each then wipe all ur body as u can.)( Reapeat all this 3 times)
Its may help you one day on the day of Judgement.
