When atheists borrow their moral standards from Christians

For Atheists to say whether something is right or wrong they have to steal a moral standard from God. Why? Because if there is no God, and therefore no objective standard for “good” then everything is just a matter of opinion.

"My Argument against God was that the Universe seems so Cruel and Unjust. But how do I get this Idea of Just and Unjust? A man does not call a line Crooked unless he has some Idea of a Straight line. What was I comparing the universe with when I called it unjust?" - C.S. Lewis

Whenever someone endorses something like "Random acts of kindness" or a form of goodness, love, or benevolence toward others, I almost always ask, "What makes kindness good?" Then the discussion over objective moral reference begins. Most of the time they'll back off and won't have a discussion. They know where it's going.

As an atheist, this is some of the most entertaining content on youtube.

A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling the word 'darkness' on the walls of his cell.
- C.S. Lewis

Atheists can not diminish the Goodness of God by spewing venom like Richard Dawkins.

Rights, standards, morals, right and wrong all come from people over time. Take the first thief or murderer you think they knew it was wrong no they didn't. But over time it's recognise as wrong and then it spreads.

1:30 Basically that's what Darwin believed in, that people weren't equal and some races according to him were better. Darwinism in its application to people was quite racist.

Yep. Too many times have I heard atheists call God and the Bible immoral when they can't even objectively define what immoral is. Of course they also say that God doesn't exist and the Bible isn't true so that accusation is full of holes.

There are many moral issues that are not covered by Christianity nor, to my knowledge, any other religion.
There are many moral issues that are covered by some religions but not other.
There are other moral issues that are covered by some religions but are clearly in conflict with modern values.
Quite clearly morals are man made because if some are then they all can be. That's why they are dynamic.

Noone's borrowing anything, my morality is based on mutual agreement of not to do what decreases our overall well being. You don't want to be stolen from, I don't want to be stolen from, so let's agree not to steal from one another. You want to steal? Then you must be fine with you getting stolen from.
It's not that hard.

So the problem it seems to me is an atheist and I can know right and wrong and maybe we don’t need God to know that. BUT I just need there to “be a god” to justify it. And to put it another way, a lot of atheists say, “I know right from wrong without God”. Well to me that’s like saying, “I can know what a book says AND deny there’s an author.” Which is true. BUT...there would be no book to read unless there was an author. The same is true when it comes to morality. You can know what the right thing to do is and deny there is a God, but there would be no right thing to do unless there was a God.

1) Why would we believe an objective moral standard exists in the first place? Some moral issues are almost universally agreed upon (many aren't). Does this make them objectively good/bad? Does majority opinion make something objectively so?

2) Why are so many people afraid of subjective morality? I mean, hundreds of millions if not billions of people do not believe in objective morality and they murder/rape/torture/... just as many people as people believing in objective morality do.

3) I'm not sure if Frank Turek really doesn't get the shallowness of his arguments or he deliberately uses the same debunked arguments over and over again to keep his audience. He either doesn't understand his critics or he is a charlatan

quote: Whithout god, morality makes no sense

I can imagine 2 types of realities
a) a reality which everone must exit.
b) a relality which no one can exit.
[ for completeness c) a reality where some live in a) and some live in b) ]

Choose your type of reality.
Based on your preference you can state, whether death is good or whether death is bad.

Why do you have a picture of a Catholic (Stephen Colbert) in the thumbnail for a video about atheism?
