ADVANCED English Grammar: How to use SUGGEST & RECOMMEND

Even many advanced English students don't know how to use "suggest" and "recommend" properly. In this video I explain the three main structures that are used with these verbs. I also quickly look at the present subjunctive mood in English.

I'm your fan and am very thankful for that video about "Subjunctive Mood" that you had uploaded a year ago. There I learned many things from you and have been learning many things as well from other video series.


Which of these sentences is correct number 1 or 2.
Because somebody told me that this number 1 is also correct as well.

1) He suggest to me where I should shop for good watches.

2) He suggest where I should shop for good watches to me

Thanks for this video. Well, before uploading the video, I didn't know the actual differences between these two words which is really so perfect to bother English learners perhaps. Well, I can make it out now.

It may seem weird but, although Portuguese tenses are harder, in this case, I do prefer them. I mean, we follow the verbs with the according tense, so we say: recomendo que pegue (present subjunctive) um táxi, recomendei que pegasse (past subjunctive) um taxi. In english what marks the past is only the first verb which is a bit confusing at first: I recommend/recommended/have recommended he TAKE a taxi. The second verb simply doesn't follow 🤣😵‍💫 but we can always use should to mark the past.
