You have money 🤑💰 = AM5
You don't have money 💀= AM4

5600 and 5700x3d are still absolutely amazing for new builds.

AM4 was my dream socket lmao. When I was a young teen and didn’t have enough personal money to buy a decent rig. Now it’s just aging away. I got an am4 board and chip now just waiting for the case I want to put it in.

The "future-proof" rationale has a very brief shelf-life. The future overtakes all of us, and much too soon.
Better to buy what you must have now (or according to a defined list of results), and at the best possible price.
Prices will drop dramatically on AM4 after AM5 establishes itself. Wait until the first major AM4 price drop and buy before inventory becomes scarce.
Put differently, today's AM4 was the future a few years ago. What matters is only performance needs and specifications.

I stuck with AM4 because of the stability. AM5 still has a lot of issues. My pc performs very well and I also didn’t have to spend hundreds of dollars more to be on the latest platform. All that really matters in the end result.

I'm on an x570 board with a 5800X3D cpu and 32 gb of 3600 mhz ram. I still have 2 open ram slots and could upgrade my gpu to a 40-series. sticking with AM4 until we get a solid pcie gen 5 gpu lineup.

It’s good to finally catch a vid this early!

Here in Asia, a decent AM5 setup with a Ryzen 7500f cost around 50-70% more than a 5600 setup.

The difference in cost could mean getting a 5600+6700xt or a 7500f+6600. Honestly, I'd stick with the AM4 for gaming and make it last until AM6 come out. The 5600 is still capable of pushing current high end gpus anyway

To be absolutely honest, AM4 is stll fine. A 5800x3d goes well with even a 4070 ti super so long as you pair the gpu and cpu right.

People will build AM5 more maybe in 2026 and above, because in 2024-2025 AM5 support part is still expensive for most people...

I may or may not have built my first pc recently with AM4 on a 1500 budget

It was a Ryzen 7 57003DX with a 4070 super

Wow, first time I've seen this guy actually advertise using older generation parts like they're fine (which they are)

upgrade path is a 2iq strat, nobody is upgrading every 2 years, buy am4, save money, and it'll last you 4 or 5 years, by then there will be a new and better socket

Recently built my first ever PC, went for AM5 during Prime Day. Absolutely loving it so far (though MSI BIOS takes forever to boot from a cold start)

yeah i cannot spare the extra costs on something future proof when im likely not going to be able to upgrade for the whole am5 generation, so im just happy with the 5800x 7700xt build i made and will keep it until its fighting for its life

I have a 5700x and 6950xt. Haven't had any issues with it since i built it early last year. Damn near every game runs locked at 165hz, even cyberpunk (without ray tracing) runs at 100

Definitely helpful for me, last PC I built was an LGA2011 socket so its been a long while, knowing which socket is current is a whole new lesson for me.

Building fresh so AM5 is definitely the choice for me.

Got R7 5700X+4070 for a little over 1k $ last October . Tired of waiting because of many excuses like "new generation comes and prices will drastically change" whatever. Zero regrets tho. Hundreds of times better than sitting on a Intel uhd 630 laptop.

I'll put it this way. Sometimes you're lucky too with old new stock. I got myself a 5950x for 150$ sealed in box. I got an AIO cooler that worker either AM4 or AM5 for when I upgrade in a couple years. Grabbing a new larger case to put everything in and have it fit proper next. And then i'm gonna be dumb and spend a little extra for a proart x570. Because I want to enjoy my 5950x for awhile. I've also been casually building my computer since COVID to have a basic work station. Little by little i've built it to what it is now. When I have enough saved in a couple years, i'll just upgrade to whatever is the highest I can afford and swap over what I can. Use the rest to build a solid home NAS.

Running a B450 board hooked up to 1080 still and playing starfield at max settings with zero stutter. I'm happy. Pretty sure I can rock out on Cyberpunk as well if I had the funds/time to play it. :P

I think it is better to build a am4 base gaming pc if you dont have youre job based around the need of having a realy high power and Performance setup because i think the Question should be if you need the high power high end pc parts if you are just gaming on it and dont have to do extrem 3d Rendering or Something like this because in that Case it is maybe better on am5
