Please dont wiggle or apply any pressure at all to your cpu unless you want a broken pin. Simply drop it in place and close the bracket and its installed

Got myself a new AM5 motherboard plus Ryzen 5 8600 just yesterday. Was sweating buckets 😰 from anxiety when I felt how much pressure it takes to close the latch!!

something that may catch new builders off guard is the amount of force required when pressing on the lever to tuck it under to lock it in place.

as long as u inserted cpu correctly, it's safe to press down on the lever to tuck it under the latch to finally install it.

tldr the force required on the level may feel like it's gonna break, but it's actually normal for am5.

The ammount of pressure these cpu's need with the brackets is nuts, i installed a 7600x yesterday for my first time and its a lot of pressure, thought i will break the lever...

Shook my entire pc instead of wiggling the cpu, cpu launched to space

The wiggle is how I busted a pin, luckily I managed to fix it with max mag on my phone and a needle

and make sure you dont lose grip on the latch when pressing it down. The socket will pop open and the cpu fly away out of the socket.. happend to me

Why did they change the Pin Grid Array on the CPU? AM5 MoBos are supposed to be future proof where you can upgrade CPUs for years to come. Id rather have the pins on CPU rather than on MoBos. Plus, it is a LOT easier to fix pins on CPU rather than the MoBos

Another top tip, scrap that bracket altogether. Get yourself a secure frame from Theralright.
