10 yrs contracts are crazy player gets cozy then drops off, 3yrs max make em play for their spots

I hate 10 year deals unlike dce alot of players with long deals end up just putting their feet up and coasting. The big money gives a false sense of security.

Dylan Brown has never stepped up in a big game or a finals game. He might have a lot of money but he is morally bankrupt. Why Newcastle sat down and thought "This is the man to take us forward" is beyond me.

Raiders are doing It right by investing in young players

You think DB is going to put 100% into this season when that big contract is around the corner. We all know it's NO. Not going to risk a major injury.

This is like if the Sharkz gave Hynes a 10 year deal, while their 6 is the one guiding them around the park. Newcastle really said "Hold my beer"

Within 10 year's alot more younger, brighter and talented kid's are going to come through the grades and play NRL

Newcastle have done Parra a favour I think.

I don't think Brown is that great a signing. I mean, seriously, what has he actually done at his time at the Eels? He's never been able to successfully control the team in the absence of Mitchell Moses. He's a very good defensive player, but his attacking is unpredictable and often is non-existent. The only reason the Knights have signed him to a really ridiculous deal is because there isn't anyone else. I think it might come back to bite

Feel sorry for all the up and coming halves in the Hunter region.

Taumalolo went from the best player to starting off the bench in a matter of years. 10 year contracts are good for the players not the club

Penrith could have kept all the great players they have lost, but no they have a cap on each player and they will not go over it no matter how good they are, Newcastle should do the same, as GUS says your clubs future is your juniors..

Do what the Roosters do - you sign them but in reality you already know come year five or six that you will offer them around the market. Meanwhile, other players sign on and you build a team.

They never learn from Taumalolo deal with Cowboys. Now he is useless and being paid millions for the rest of the contract.

It worked for set up forward pack
Cowboys and taumalolo back in mid 2010's at 2015
And they went to 2 finals in 3 years plus post season runs
You have to wait

There's not enough quality halves in the game. That drives the price up. It is what it is.

NRL should limit contracts to a maximum 5 years. They can always renew.

Watch other clubs come for players like Sharpe and Best.

I have deliberately watched Dylan Brown closely for years, as a Parra fan. Newcastle, enjoy seeing him turn up for 7 minutes every 3rd game... 😂

Halves in 5 years will be on 1.4 to 1.8 bargain price in the last 6 years
Have not had a decent half since Johns and Johns
