Now That You Know The What: DO THIS EXERCISE!!!!

Does your shoulder click and pop when you move it? Shoulder Pain If this sounds like you or someone you know, it is likely that the shoulder blade is stuck. When we move the arm around, the shoulder blade is meant to move harmoniously with the arm. Due to our newfound lifestyles of sitting and driving, our shoulders don’t always work the way they are meant to, but you can train them to!

First off, if you find yourself trying to make your shoulder pop like I am in the beginning of the video, it is best to avoid making it click and pop on purpose. Next, get in touch with your shoulder blade. Watch the video a few times and work on reaching your shoulder blade in various directions: 1) Up and down 2) Diagonally 3) To the Side 4) Forward and Back.

Watch yourself in the mirror or take your shirt off and RECORD yourself from the back. What is your blade doing? Are you able to reach as far as I am? Can you pull your blade down? Are you able to reach to the side, or does your blade feel stuck? These blade movements may look easy when I do them, but I myself have experienced shoulder impingement and labral pain in both shoulders. I have been one of the people that I tease at the beginning of the video. I practiced my shoulder blade motion and how it moves with my arm for many months. As I improved my shoulder awareness, the clicking stopped. This goes for anyone who joins our program as well.

We talk a lot about a shoulder blade “rotation” technique that we did not go over in this video. Mastering that movement is one of the greatest ways to bulletproof your body. We have done many movements on it and will do many more in the future.

After having over a decade of shoulder pain, due to being over-zealous in the gym when I was younger, the one thing that damn near cured it was hanging. Plain and simple hanging from a pull-up bar. Along with the hanging I eventually started performing scapula pull-ups - which is essentially what you describe in this video, but whilst hanging. I first heard of hanging therapy on the Joe Rogan podcast and decided to try it out and it was an absolute Godsend. So i always highly recommend hanging for anyone having shoulder, neck issues; however it is an excellent movement for overall body alignment.

I love the MoveU videos and the information given is absolutely priceless. The pelvic neutral, the scapula pulled down and back (as shown in tis video) are basic movement patterns that need to be well-integrated into all your movements. Fixing these two should fix a majority of any body alignment issues. Thanks guys!

Great video explaining why shoulder pain occurs but how do you unlock your scapula and get it to move appropriately?

Is there a second part to this? Now that we know what is causing the issue, what steps do we take to ensure we're moving/strengthening correctly. I don't know what to do with your information?

That was absolutely the best demonstration of the mechanical structures and forces involved producing shoulder impingement and all of its subsequent secondary pathologies that I have seen. Thank you for taking the time and effort necessary to illustrate and educate to the best degree.

This is exactly why I have an appointment with a physical therapist tomorrow! Thank you for an excellent explanation of what's going on in my painful shoulder!

I am a massage therapist who specializes in structural integration and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos. I find myself cheering inside because I explain this stuff all day, every day, for 27 years now and it just amazes me how complicated people make some of the most simple, common sense stuff having to do with body mechanics. It just goes to show how much information still isn’t available to the public and you’ve really inspired me to get my own platform going. Thank you for what you do. If anyone needs real, measurable body work to fix these issues, and you live or are willing to travel to Southwest Florida, let me know. I have some available session times during our off-season (summer).

I have seen your videos today and you have a better understanding of my shoulder problems than any physical therapist i have ever been to. Im hoping that what i have learned will get back to pre car accident condition.

I suffered from frozen shoulder this past year. No one explained it, or helped it like I kept trying to tell everyone that it felt like my shoulder blade was not in the right position. It felt like it was tilted outward for lack of better words. Most of the exercises and message techniques I saw online was by folks that obviously have never had frozen shoulder so it was all pretty much useless information. Until I found MoveU. Love Yo

Thanks for the info, it would be great if you could explain how to correct these issues in your videos or atleast put a link to somewhere that does

You do a great job explaining why things happen but dont elaborate on what to do about it in the same video

how do you do that? Zero exercises or recommendations.

I get this shit every 3 years of pole dancing, although I diligently (and I mean 4 to5 times a week) perform various lower middle trap, rhomboid, and external rotator excericises and yes in correct form, as far as my understanding of the above presented concept goes. I use 1 KG weights, therabands, pullup bars for scapular retraction ...etc. My conclusion is that the intensity of pole dance training supercedes the corrective prehab excericises I am doing. I probably either need to cut down pole training time or intensify prehab excercises even more.

Mike or whoever. Been trying to solve this for years. 35 now so since i was 19. Its horrible. I want to train chest so bad but it gives out after a set or two. It pops. Say i put my hand to my head and move my shoulder will flap on the rear delt side. It will hurt in my shoulder when doing any chest exercise. When I shrug my shoulder blade pops also. All i get is your young or your fine. Its been 15 years. I gave up with doctors with it. Feel like you guys know more and actually seem to care about this stuff. The joints, being flexible and how to keep your self intact. Any reply would be greatly appreciated.

Feelling it man. I felt this pain before. My dad used to tell me when I was younger training for basketball to work on my shoulder blade muscle and I always took it like for granted I was like....why? my shoulders are already nice and round. I guess now years and years later I know it's important to work on the old back blade muscles.

Great explanation! ...Bad upper body posture is the most likely root cause of most shoulder impingement cases.
