I cut off my toxic best friend about 2 months ago. He recently reached out to my sister and got my address to send me something since I've cut off all contact. I'm feeling very conflicted because although I still love and care for him, he ultimately wasn't very nice or a good friend. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel when I get whatever he sends me, but cutting him off was a positive change for me and I don't want to go back to being treated like crap again.

So, growing up in a household everyone always criticized and insulted and complained about everything. My whole family is like this, including me.
It is hard to curb such behavior, despite therapy. I revert back to those tendencies when stressed.

Suggestions or episodes I can refer to?
