I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was 15 years old (first year of high school). I am now 22 years old so been dealing with it 7 years now. If anyone here is struggling with this or just been diagnosed, trust me I feel your pain. It may feel like your life is over and that all the walls are closing in on you. That is how I felt every single day at the start. I wasn’t able to attend regular school anymore. I spent every day feeling sorry for myself thinking there was no hope for me anymore. But today I am working full time an hour from home. I no longer let my disease control me. I no longer am ashamed of having to go to the bathroom so much. No matter what you do or what your DRs say, you can get better and you can beat this! They told me no other option but surgery. Here I am today doing all my normal life activities.

I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis 2 years ago and my first year, It was hell. But I started looking into things and I realized my stressed triggered my symptoms. Now I eat what I want. You just gotta have faith. You'll get better. If you go around being negative it's gonna affect you.

For all us who have UC and is listening to this video, I offer my thoughts and prayers to everyone dealing with this IBD. I know it gets frustrating dealing with the stomach issues, the uncontrollable bowel movements many times a day. Like others said, stay positive, keep your head up. I am a huge worrier and once a negative thought is in my head, it's hard not to turn it to a positive. Ive had the disease since the beginning of 2013, been on Humira since October 2013 and it put into remission for 9 years. Fast forward to now and I think it's come back. After 3 weeks, small traces of blood in 2 of my stools and constant stomach discomfort, way different from the symptoms i have when I first got it. Finally have my Dr appointment today to see what the plan is. God bless you all!

Well. I’ve definitely got the eye inflammation, spine pain, hand pain, knee pain as a complementary gift with colitis. Plus rosacea… and anxiety, depression, ptsd and reynauds. Wouldn’t be surprised if those are also free gifts too. All by the age of 25. Fml I’m in for a ride.

I am a woman who is 50yrs old.... Diagnosed at 18. My disease has gotten 11:39 worse over time and i am currently on Remicade and Methotrexate. I spent 15 days in the hospital lost 30 lbs. I weighed 108 lbs ...and looked horrible, and thought i was going to die. I would say this disease is horrible, unpredictable, but manageable. Dont get bogged down, you all can do this ...get a good team of GI people. Don't stress about it, advocate for yourself and find the meds that work for you. Don't give up ...
UC is manageable with the right team, mindset, diet, and support group

It's ok to wear protective underwear, diapers, and it's ok to have accidents.
Dont let this disease take dignity away ...
I have battled it for 32 years ...i go into remission....and i have times when i feel lije i want to give up
You all can do this . ❤

I want to smack people who don't understand what we go through. I've had it for 22 years since I was 13. It has gotten better over the last five years but by no means has disappeared. So much pain tonight.
And I was told I was crazy but my lower back pain is DEFINITELY related.

During my painful period, a few days ago, on days 1 and 2, I took ibuprofen… the ibuprofen caused me so much stomach pain: the middle and lower abdominal… Burning pain and some digested blood in my stool… This is ongoing for a few days now. Never ever will I take I ibuprofen again
