Don't knock him. We all neglect the thermodynamic radiative layer within the atmosphere of Venus sometimes.

I love that Bill immediately has concerns about what he factored into the equation, lol. Its such a cool thing to see these two talk with each other.

Ive never seen someone so giddy to be wrong. This guy is such a breath of fresh air

This is a good example of science. If you are wrong, you admit the mistake and correct it.

there's nothing better than loving what your're doing and getting paid and recognized for it

Bro almost burned his pizza

Edit: Yes, "Almost, " because my guy hasn’t hopped over to Venus to test it out yet. Hoping that this wasn’t lost on anyone.

These guys are so delightful that I can listen to them talk about science stuff only understanding a portion of it and still enjoying the conversation.

"Two and a half seconds." Well crap. that is actually a very big difference if you consider the fact that the pizza would 100% burnt to a crisp if you left it for the full seven. Science is neat.

I always take the thermodynamic radiative layer in for consideration when I cook a pizza.. Its in the fine print on the inside of the box right next to Atmospheric pressure.

This is why I love being in STEM, when you get good people with a good head on their shoulders, being wrong is just another step to getting smarter! If you’re never told what you’re wrong about, you’ll never learn.

A good scientist knows a lot
A great scientist knows everything
A perfect scientist knows when he’s wrong, isn’t mad about it, and seeks to correct himself

Just want to highlight a piece that shows how good of a teacher neil is. When he was talking about the radiative factor, I had no clue of how to conceptualize what he was talking about, and it sounded super nerdy.

BUT, the moment he talked about how when someone stands inbetween you and a fire, you feel colder suddenly: I immediately understood the concept. Neil is so good at casually giving real world examples of science in order for people to quickly grasp what he’s talking about. It’s so seamless

I absolutely love that somebody that is as intelligent as Neil deGrasse Tyson is completely comfortable with somebody thinking of something he didn't. A sign of true intellect is being able to recognize the intelligence of others and not be intimidated by it. True intelligence is enthralled when it finds other intelligence.

I like that he can happily admit to being incorrect and is still just happy to learn and expand his knowledge 😊

The way he can explain something so mind boggling and give a very easy parallel such as a bonfire is why Neil is so amazing

“Delightfully out geeked” made me laugh so hard

"Delightfully outgeeked". Thats one of the reasons we love Neil.

To date I have never heard someone explain a complicated concept so well. Him and my 9th grade geometry teacher, first math teacher to teach me how to subtract, add, multiply and divide fractions and decimals so clearly in my head and it stuck.
