InPresence host, Jeffrey Mishlove, PhD, is author of The Roots of Consciousness, Psi Development Systems, and The PK Man. Between 1986 and 2002 he hosted and co-produced the original Thinking Allowed public television series. He is the recipient of the only doctoral diploma in "parapsychology" ever awarded by an accredited university (University of California, Berkeley, 1980). For many years he served as president of the non-profit Intuition Network, an organization dedicated to creating a world in which all people were supported and encouraged in developing inner intuitive abilities.

Here he discusses the maxim that everything is more meaningful the closer one is to god. He relates this to his Jewish background and the feeling of many Jews of having been abandoned by the deity in their hour of need -- the holocaust. He introduces the work of Victor Frankl, the founder of logo therapy. He also discusses research suggesting that individuals reporting subjective psychic experiences often have painful childhoods.

I have no words to thanks you enough, Jeffrey! this is very moving. I am a bereaved mother, and i lost my world when i lost my child and i lost the meaning of life and God didn't answer my prayer but instead took my child away from me. I felt like you were talking to me. Thank you very much. I appreciate your program and i find hope and support trough it every day.

My heart is breaking for those who suffered and are suffering. Meaning is as important as meeting survival needs. Meaning is our psychic food. The questions you pose and the perspective you take on life is amazing. Thank you so much for this series.

A very heartfelt and candid episode, Jeffrey. Thank you for sharing your moments of hardship - though it’s clear you were a badass in your younger days and can still handle yourself today. You have lived through the best of times! So true when you say there is always someone worse off than you. I live by that and it keeps me steady...

Viktor Frankl's book, "Man's Search for Meaning", should be taught in high schools (probably in the last year) as part of the curriculum everywhere.
In the book, where he mentions that he "... was looking at the sun rays through a slit in a wall in Auschwitz, while Nazis had taken everything from them ..." became 'the' main tangible reference point for me to intercept and avoid tendencies to complacency, laziness, ditching responsibilities, procrastination, and taking the gift of life for granted. That statement of him got imprinted in my mind forever.
Thank you Dr. Mishlove for this talk.

I am a reader. I’ve been one since I was a teenager. I appreciate other readers and visionaries who are giving so much online to people no matter if behind the scenes they are slowly becoming impoverished because of lacking the marketing personality. I support them sometimes by sending money, even if I have little. I think it’s important to honor them for their big picture vision. To see this modern time in the way the town used to give alms in bowls. Whomever is here helping us as a whole, please support them, they are the way that faith in Goodness actually comes, through donations on behalf of Good. Give to the ones that are sitting still enough to receive and give from the source that loves and provides. That’s church. If you get a message that’s important to your soul, give back so others can also go to ’church’. Then we can all grow stronger and give more. Then people will see that Good isn’t dead.

Thank you, Dr. Mishlove. Thank you. Your words come to me now, where I myself am suffering from the lack of meaning, in some parts of my own life.
I'm sure you don't see God as the one who has forsaken his children. I'm sure you don't see God as a person, but even so, your empathy to those who suffered in the holocaust made you cry. That cry is the crying of those innocent and religious simple people, who thought of a personal God, who felt betrayed by this God. And you felt it all.

True. Helping other people brings lot of life long satisfaction and I am still experiencing it. Sometimes I went out of way to help right people for genuine cause, or difficulties. Sometimes I felt I am so much nearer to God and sometimes find frustrating that he is not answering my prayers. But I have learned one thing, it may be GOD wants me to be more perfect, in a unselfish way for society. Let us see, walking the path with confidence..
