The idea of Apple CarPlay is to operate and control your iPhone with the Control Display of your BMW for a connected drive. This film shows you how easy it is to link your iPhone with your BMW. Once connected you can use selected apps via your Control Display.

i get in a rental car anywhere in the world and it just works... i get a BMW M2 and there is a subscription!!! My last BMW because this portrays the attitude of the brand to it's car owners

I rent a lot of cars and never have a problem with connecting to Apple CarPlay. So I got an "Upgrade" to a BMW. Big mistake. While the car drives nice the electronics suck. Impossible to connect Apple Car Play. Spent lots of wasted time trying to connect up. My iPhone thinks it's connected, but will not show Apple Car Play. However, the phone through car play works fine. Crazy. I will pick another upgrade next time.

This video was uploaded in Dec 2018 which means all models after Dec 2018 will have seamless integration with AppleCar Play, I bought a June 2019 5 series and I just couldn't get AppleCar Play activated, finally the official confirmation from BMW is that the car requires Advanced Bluetooth which cannot be retrofitted, so I have to live without AppleCar Play for the many years I will have the car with me.

This is quite a sad experience to begin with though I was told that all BMWs from 2019 have AppleCar play activated in their vehicles and why not as this is now a standard capability offered by many manufacturers, lesson learnt - don't take such videos at face value, these are all marketing gimmicks, don't assume things will work as stated, do your homework and double check if this is for your vehicle.

I just got my 2019 X5 and when Carplay is connected, my iPhone can not access the internet! Is this how BMW's Carplay works?! All of the streaming apps like iHeart radio and Amazon music do not work either! help!
