Still zero desire to buy the Pro. Personally there’s no reason to. My PS5 gets turned on maybe once a month, and is just a Gran Turismo 7 machine now.

Imagine spending $700 for 12 more frames a second. 😂

The PlayStation 5 Pro is not needed. You see the stuttering mess with Silent Hill 2 with high end PC hardware? It's the devs fault for being lazy and not going through their games and optimizing them to their fullest. Unreal Engine 5 is CPU intensive. Why would the developers of the engine just focus solely on CPU when everything is dependent on multi-threading? Both CPU and GPU are always supposed to be utilized in parallel for best overall performance. Is this some kind of marketing ploy from both CPU and GPU companies to keep people having to upgrade their hardware when they really shouldn't have to? Maybe, but it's also the devs purposely under utilizing the hardware. It really seems like it.

All the PlayStation 5 Pro will do is lower the resolution and use AI upscaling to achieve better frame rates with less work for the lazy developers. How about the devs actually code their games properly and stop pretending that the hardware is weak due to them poorly optimizing their games. This is so bad, console gaming is so boring and stale now. People shouldn't have to update so frequently any longer with multi-threaded technology and all of the cores CPUs and GPUs have now and with parallel rendering, it shouldn't be hard to optimize games anymore. Shame on these devs for making people thing they need server type CPUs with 128 cores when multi-threading is supposed to alleviate those problems. Mid-gen refreshes are silly and should never be done again. Is this what people really wanted this generation? Just a console refresh with barely any next-gen games and lazy dev optimization?

I played the demo for Metaphor on a Series S and I didn't noticed issues with the performance? The demo is like first 4-5 hours of the game so this sounds pretty strange that the PS5 came out to have performance issues

So Sony failed to uphold their promise of 60 fps, solution? Throw more money their way for a .5 console!... Nah I'm good

So happy to hear Dragon Ball Sparking Zero is such a huge success already. Can't wait to play it myself on Thursday.
Been waiting for Budokai Tenkaichi 4 for years.

Instead of calling it the PS5 Pro, they should have named it the PS5 Reboot. It's the console they should have released in the first place.

The PS5 pro is a waste if you don't have a good TV that is 120hz-144hz +game mode plus VRR. .Tin foil hat time Sony is making games run bad to shift more pro units also space marine 2 ran fine on my series x

This console generation is a massive disappointment. So many promises were made at the launch of this generation, and so many of these promises were broken. The biggest one being games released and they are unable to do 60fps.

I just don't get, why focus in graphics before frame hate. Look to the switch Mario is always 60frames and graphics are good

I bought the GOWR PS5 and play most of my PS4 games on it. I wont waste money on the pro version since there isnt any incentives to upgrade. If the base PS5 had issues like over heating or other issues with people refunding the PS5, then I could understand getting the PS5 Pro.

Many game engines are CPU dependent. Meaning that most games are not going to automatically see any frame benefits from the PS5 Pro. My guess is… they’re going to try to use the AI upscaling to get those frames. But that’s not going to be a given. It’s really going to depend on the engine used and amount of work, a developers willing to put into updating their game to take advantage of it. Which, judging on this generation so far… Developers don’t seem to want to put in the extra work for the handful of people comparatively that are going to be buying the system.

At the price that they want for this system, the upgrade is minimal. It will allow for a sharper look and possibly a few more frames… But at $300 over the current system’s price, is it really worth it for gamers? When a lot of gamers were happy with handhelds or the Xbox Series S this generation? I guess only time will tell, but I would rather have a true next generation upgrade in or around 2026 from Microsoft, then to do another mid generation upgrade that barely scratches the surface and is reliant on developers to take advantage of it. Which developers have barely even taken advantage of the systems we already have this generation.

Microsoft is supposed to announce new hardware during the game awards this year, as per Sarah Bonds mention of it a few months ago. which makes me believe that the system is coming sooner than later. I would think 2026, whether that be winter or fall would be an adequate guess. Simply because it gives them time to get the developer kits out and also have some first party games ready to take advantage of it. I haven’t heard of any development kits going out yet, but maybe some of the higher end companies have gotten them or at least rumblings of what they will be. Especially if they are going to announce that system at the game awards for a 2026 release.

We will see what happens. Again, no matter what system we are talking about… It takes developers to fully take advantage of them, and we did not see that this generation. All of the features that the GPU’s have that haven’t been taken advantage of at all. Simply because there’s no parity between consoles. Meaning Microsofts has features that Sony’s doesn’t and Sony sold more systems. So that is generally the lead system for most developers. Hell, even Microsoft themselves and their first party developers have barely scratched the surface.

Phantasio has optimization issues, It's not pushing boundaries..it's not about the console..

The PS5 Pro getting close to the performance benchmarks promised by base PS5 marketing is NOT a selling point. It could be if you’re a fool looking to be separated from your $700+, it might be. But, people with working brains see it for what it is.

If developers would dial back their initial scope and vision for these games, they could hit 60 fps consistently, but the majority of them don’t want to optimize their games.

Ha. We got the alt account in the comments. It's an almost endless battle but its worth fighting sometimes.

The framerate problems on the PS5 dont make the Pro seem more attractive, it just makes the PS5 less attractive.

I still think the ps5 pro on paper power, will be close to the series X. Of course, this is all speculation, but with them just adding more compute units on the chipset, and not touching much of the rest of hardware. I also feel Devs and games should be scaled for current hardware instead of having to pay for a res and fps upgrade
