Xbox and the PS5 Pro

As the PlayStation 5 Pro gets closer to launching and we learn more about it many are asking what Xbox will do to respond or if they will react. As it seems, their only response is to have their first game with the PS5 Pro Enhanced Label in Diablo 4. This has many fans feeling betrayed and the view that this is the final straw for Xbox seems to be growing in popularity. Let's talk about it!

I said it before. I do not trust Xbox going forward when it comes to hardware. I don’t see how anyone can.

I’m done with Microsoft/Xbox. As a former Xbox fan, I will no longer invest in any console going forward. The Series X is my last console I’ll own from them and instead be building a RTX 5090 pc rig and play their games & PlayStation games as well. Microsoft made it clear they don’t care about console and game exclusivity.

However I will keep investing in Sony PlayStation eco as they tend to still be having some exclusivity to its platform with great solo games. I’ve already pre-ordered the PS5 Pro and plan to buy a PS6 considering Sony remains the same with exclusivity.

Sony releasing their Pro Dev Kits to Xbox game developers is interesting.

It seems to me that a lot of these "we want Xbox to do better" sentiments often end in "...to keep Sony in check" or "because we need competition!" rather than the premise of Xbox being worth it on its own.

It's weird, because it's like people want Xbox to exist, but in this nebulous sense where they're not specifically engaging with what Xbox has to offer; like they only want Xbox to be this foil to Sony that keeps them from becoming a big, bad monopoly often with the $700 PS5 Pro being used as ammunition.

Some seem to want the idea of competition being propped up rather than accept the real results of said competition.

This is why I said they should have just ripped the bandaid off and spoke to the Xbox loyal about the new direction. I think they are underestimating how emotionally linked Xbox is to its fans. Once you lose the hardcore you've lost the brand itself.

Microsoft already makes better versions of their games for those that have high end PCs. There's no reason to not take advantage of more powerful hardware, they do it all the time

Nintendo are the only ones who do exclusives, everything else is on PC or going to PC, ownining an Xbox or Ps5 is becoming more pointless.
