Sony has officially revealed the Playstation 5 Pro, and it’s EXPENSIVE. You could buy a used PS5 and a Steam Deck, or a WHOLE FREAKING GAMING PC for the same budget! While the exclusive games might be good, it’s hard to swallow the unexpectedly high price when the upgrade feels so… expected.

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

The biggest crime here is that average car payments are $700💀

In the Netherlands it is 800 euros and the disk drive is 120 euros.
Yeah nope.

$700 isn't even really the problem $700 without a stand or drive is the problem. Sony is thinking they're Apple right now but they haven't hit that point.

Is it possible they're seeing PC gamers for decades now regularly spending $2000+ on a PC and now console manufacturers think thats a reasonable price point for gaming, streaming, and whatever else consoles do now?

its 800€ in europe. WITHOUT a fucking disk drive and stand

Linus not mentioning the Disc Drive being a separate purchase is insane

are we ignoring that theres 0 price difference for UK buyers? the conversion isnt even close to the same. so we pay 200 dollars more. 699 pounds = over 900 dollars. how does this make sense?

Even if the PS5 Pro is technically impressive and potentially a step-up, the steep price coupled with current economic realities makes it far less accessible.

One thing to point out, when the PS3 came out, playing online didn't require a subscription

the only thing "pro" about it is the price

The PS3 when it came out was a massive improvement over the PS2, as well as having a bluray drive at the time. The PS5 Pro doesn't even come with a disk drive, there is no way people will justify this price.

Why is it $700 but 800€? When $700 should be less in Euro since the Euro is currently stronger. No way the import tax is a hundred bucks. Sony is just getting greedy

>adjusting for inflation

That's kind of the problem... people are used to prices on technology coming down over time. It's not like inflation is a new thing, technology not coming down in price over time is.

700$ for just the ps5 pro and no stand or the drive is criminal 💀

Linus, how are you comparing PS3 WITH the disk-drive and full kit with PS5 PRO which comes without one and without the stand, this is indeed the most expensive playstation in history.

$550 a month for a used car is one of the most shocking things I've learned in a long time. My goodness...

People mention "adjusted for inflation" without addressing wage stagnation. This is the perfect time to jump to PC. Sony will only get worse.

Stop saying the ps3 is the most expensive console adjusted for inflation. That console included a disc drive. At least make it an equitable comparison. This narrative continuing to be pushed is why consumers keep getting rail-roaded by corporate money-grubbing decisions like this.
