#PleinAirpril Day 18 - Gouache Dunes ✶ #shorts

This beach, while beautiful, was incredibly windy, and I don't think I've ever painted so fast in my life! No time to think. Just mix and make marks. Even in the 10 minutes it took to paint, my eyeballs were wind-burned!

I always wanted to ask: before you put down any strokes do you have the picture in your mind how will you interpret what you see? Do you have the abstraction level you are aiming for? Or is it something forming on the paper only after you have started to paint, changing as you paint?
