I am a boy scout and I love knots, I know over 100, probably more like 200, at least way more than I will ever use ;)
No surprise, I am usually the one to teach others younger kids knots and it is always very difficult. And, even if they can do it, they soon forget and never use it. Most older scouts don't know knots either.

I have never thought to use mnemonics with knots, this is a really great idea that will hopefully make teaching knots much easier and enjoyable. Great video!

Although, on thing: Never use a square knot as a bend(to connect two ropes). A square knot is meant for binding, where you wrap a rope around something then tie it off. I don't know why people started using it as a bend, but it is a very weak knot that can slip very easily under the right conditions. I recommend using a sheet bend instead, its just a bowline except you make the loop with the other end you wanna tie to. It works well for tying different sized ropes as well.

I started using the reef knot for tying my shoes like 5 years ago after watching a youtube video. I haven't had to double knot my shoes since!

Loved this one. I always was fascinated about knots but never tried to do them. This is a good start.

I use a clove hitch to tie chains at work. Its a fantastic knot. Spinning it underground tied to the head of a drill, it would always tighten and never came off.
