The Truckers Hitch is AMZING! A Huge variety of applications.
In this video, you'll learn step-by-step instructions for tying the auto locking trucker's hitch and how to use it in real-life situations. NOTE: The Mechanical Advantage is technically 3:1 But I round down for the sake of friction loss of the rope anchors.

My TOP 10 BEST KNOT Video:

The ALPINE BUTTERFLY Knot:

The CANADIAN JAM Knot:

The SHEET Bend:

This knot can be used in everyday life, a great knot for the jobsite, and overall excellent for retrieving your rope or isolating frays in a rope. Great for Camping, Prepping, Survival and Bushcraft.

This is the Truckers Hitch. And it truly does a 3:1 Mechanical Advantage, but I round down for Friction loss to 2:1.

This is very cool. Thank you for the video on how to wrap cables, too.

The "ignition on" loop is probably the best way to description I've heard in trying this knot thus far.

My dad taught me the truckers knot as a teenager and I've been using it routinely ever since. It's been my go to knot for securing any load for probably 40 years!

This is the best explanation of the trucker's knot I've seen online.

Now to make this more user friendly, when you pull the remaining line through the slip knot you created, wrap that line through the slip knot one more time.

This will keep the tension you have pulled, as the two loops that you wrapped, through the slip knot, will bind on one another, making it easier to secure it. It will be a little harder to tension, having to pull it harder, but it works like a charm.

Thanks for sharing this.

Yep the "Truckers Knot/Hitch" have been used for decades and is very very useful as you said. But a book of knots would enlighten people to so many useful knots to use.

For anyone that's interested in tips, if you thread the tag end of the cord through the loop twice, so go round once and then again, it can actually bight down so well you can let go and it won't unravel. I put up multiple tarps up for bushcrafting and has been by far one of the most useful knots and one of the best tips ! Good for OP for explaining it well, earned a sub

Basically what is referred to as a "Truckers Knot", which I've been using as my "go-to" knot for the last sixty years and it has yet to fail in any application.

Thank You for sharing an even easier way of forming the initial anchor point to secure the "slipknot" since I usually make a "permanent" anchor point as there are several applications where I use this technique for various setups, such as my tent and tarps when camping and it is much quicker with a pre set anchored point.

Excellent video BTW.

The fact you can make a small little pully system with nothing but rope or string is amazing. Very cool knot.

One of my managers at a rental company taught me this and it has indeed been the most useful knot I've ever used. There's so many ways to use it and it gets the rope so tight you can pluck it like a banjo.

Truckers hitch is, hands down, the most useful knot I know. So good in so many situations. It has worked with every cordage I have used. Your tutorial is great, and I love the key turn analogy. Spot on!! 😊

Essentially an analog of snatch blocks with pulleys.
Brilliant.

Be careful using this knot on tying down tarps...it is easy to rip out the grommets because of the mechanical advantage.
