Nice to see you've relocated to Australia :)

You can see Dave 2 have a confused/concerned look on his face when Dave 1 was grunting and making strange noises near the end. hahaha

Hell the new lab looks better, nothing better than big windows and natural light (and fresh air too). Lots of shelving space kinda like library arrangement, really cool and maximise space too. The walk around bench is an awesome idea for what you do, I tried to make one but ended up too big, wide and too high. Medium size, normal table high slightly lower than the workbench works best in most cases =]
Awesome you got that whole process documented in a time lapse haha so fun to watch!!!

The adventures of Dave and David as they move a bunch of stuff from one room to another!

I remember seeing the video back in the day when Dave built those desks.

How many noticed the part where Dave took a time out on the bean bag chair in the new lab while David continued to run around the room doing stuff? :) The time lapse was such that I played this at 50% speed to get a better sense of the changes happening in the rooms. How many days worth of video did we see? I lost track. I think it was at least 4 days of work.

Must be weird and wonderful having daylight in your lab after all that time in the basement.

You wire weenies are so lucky. All your stuff is man-portable. If I ever had to move my machine shop - I shudder thinking of the labor and expense. Some of my machines weigh tons. No cardboard boxes and utility trucks for me. Multiple loads with levers, jacks, rollers, cranes, and lowboy semi trucks.

I do like your new digs with its windows and light. The old place was a dungeon.

This time-lapse and the 1971 movie "Walkabout" have convinced me that Australia is actually a place somewhere on the face of earth. Good job Dave^2 :-)

LOL at Dave sitting around on the beanbag while David does all the work!

The benches look a bid weak for sideways forces. You can see quite a bit of sideways movement when you put the ESD mat on it. The bench would be much stiffer if horizontal beam at the rear would have gone from low left to high right. A cross, so 2 beams, would even be better. The horizontal beam does not do very much for sideways stiffness. Make triangles, they cannot change shape. Rectangles can... and will. ;-) It would be a pity if your nice benches would suddenly fold up with a fortune of delicate instruments on them.
Just some thoughts...

Hmm might occassionally get a shot of the outdoors through the window. Gonna be interesting to see whether Dave has climate problems now that he has come above ground!

02:52 Damn kids and their phones ;)
02:57 If you slide the center two racks together, you get better access to all of them, plus you get more space to store big stuff.

LOL 2:59, I thought that was going to go on for longer than it did Dave.
