I've read this accident report in past, but there's one item here that I wasn't aware of: John had an auto-pilot in this exp aircraft. Personally, I suspect that, what with his very extensive flight experience, he allowed some arrogance to blind him. I have only about 300 hrs of flight time, and as flight operation takes up a huge amount of focus of my time. That said, fuel tank switches have ALWAYS been in full view for easy access. According to this dialog, John "assumed" that if a issue were to occur, he could simply put the aircraft on auto-pilot, and then....turn to his left and search" by touch" [not sight] for the fuel tank switch. Dicy, at best. In hind sight, he failed to realize that if you're out of fuel on the active tank, auto-flight control is useless; he should have realized at a very early stage, that that fuel tank switch location was a disaster in the making. When you're secured tightly in your cockpit seat, you have little room to manuver; a beginner pilot would have been scared out of their wits at the thought of needing to flip that unseen switch during an emergency! So, so sad. Really enjoyed his songs, and his persona; he's been missed for so many years...RIP

John Denver crashed his plane in the Monterey 15 miles from where I lived south of Watsonville at the time.

The writer needs to do some more research and make better comments on some technical. There is no medical license, it's a certificate. A flight plan in not needed to make any flight, it's a good procedure to do but doing a test flight he was doing it's not needed or done by most pilots. You don't need the tower to OK your flight. Towers really only control the ground at controlled airspace airports.

Mr. Denver's death is a horrible tragedy. Apparently a good guy with some issues. 270 John.

The person who did this needs to do a lot more info on John, his career and accident. Not everything is accurate or correct.

Should have had a narrator more educated on aviation terms. If the narrator was a synthesized voice then the script writer should have help.

I miss John Denver’s music.
