This is the mind set "I never lose. I either win or I learn."

The amount of deep thinking and analysis that Patrick does on things the vast majority of people take for granted is a hallmark of his greatness. Compete against that if you dare.

And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Ha, I used to time myself mowing the yard to try and set a new personal best. I would be running behind that damn push mower. Competing against yourself is a lost art and undervalued skillset.

Right. I was never a natural runner when I was younger. I completed the mile in 11 min. when we were tested in 7th grade. So it really made me feel down when my peers were doing it in the 6 min. range. But as I got into high school I just competed with myself. Although I never became a "competitive level" runner, nor was that my intention, I did manage to pull a low 6 min. mile when I was 16.

Was feeling totally defeated coming from a 'competition is toxic' mind set. This really opened my eyes. Had to go out of my way to thank you while feeling such defeat. Thank you.

I totally agree with the levels of competition. The most important thing is to keep challenging yourself to grow. That is competing with your past self and people better than you.

Great video. Let me just say this when you just compete against your prior self you start surpassing the competition because your getting better every day that alone can make you feared and respected I call it indirect competition because your indirectly competing with others but directly competing with your self. Focus on self and you can never go wrong.

I had never had a competitive nature. I enjoyed many sports excelled in some but never got pleasure from beating others.

My deceased husband was fearless in comparison and was respected because he was also kind. Shared with my children. Our grandchildren can pass it on to their children. Thank you. B
