Taiwan is a part of China, but not a part of PRC and never was a part of PRC despite PRC declares its ownership. Republic of China which controls Taiwan iland also declares its ownership over mainland China and it's more legitimate cause RoC owned it before PRC declared its independence and spoiled everything.

As a German I can tell you that German and Dutch are at least extremly similar. Of course this does not mean it's the same langauge but it's very close. The pronouciation might be quite different however ;)

If almost all countries don't recognize Taiwan, that doesn't mean it's not a country.

Holy See is not part of Italy, and Italy regonises Holy See as a country.
It is China that claims that Taiwan is not a country on its own so it belongs to them. But Taiwan just used to be a part of China

One of the first-season episodes of Son of a Critch touched on Newfoundland having been a separate British dominion, and the radio station's callsign VOCM (which is a real station) starts with V rather than C because it was licensed prior to 1949.

East and West are relative, not absolute. Relative to the US overall, the easternmost state is indeed Maine. The international date line is just an arbitrary line.

as someone who is passionate about geography, i usually absolutely LOVE this channel, but it's really disrespectful and offensive to say taiwan is a part of the people's republic of china. that's not a geography fact, it's an oversimplification of china trying to claim taiwan as theirs when it *is* in fact a country, regardless of if the entire world recognizes it or not. it's very similar to how russia tries to claim former soviet countries as there's, most notably ukraine, except for the fact that those countries have more international recognition. the only reason more countries don't officially recognize taiwan (rather they unofficially recognize them in every other way) is because of the potential ramifications from china. taiwan is *not* part of the people's republic of china, no matter how badly beijing wants to invade and steal it.

About 20 years ago, I was trying to get a birth certificate for my bf, who was horn in Taiwan. China considers it a part of theirs, while Taiwan believes itself to not be and is independent. I spent hrs on the phone trying to track it down (the building had burned down) and was never successful.

5 geography facts that most people get it wrong
1.The moon and star in singapore's flag means its a muslim country, but thats actually not true! The moon means a young country growing its influence and the 5 stars means five things; Democracy, Peace, Progress, Justice, Equality and there is no dominant religion in singapore
2. Some people think that hungary is in balkans, but actually- hungary is in central europe not in the balkans and balkans consists of 11 countries
3. Capital of USA is not san francisco- It is washington, D.C.
4. Another misconception is that all deserts are hot. While many deserts, such as the Sahara Desert in Africa or the Arabian Desert in the Middle East, are indeed hot, there are also cold deserts where temperatures can drop significantly. Examples include the Gobi Desert in Asia and the Antarctic Desert. Deserts are defined by their arid conditions (low precipitation), not necessarily by temperature.
5. And the last misconception is that switzerland is the only neutral country, while switzerland is the famous for being neutral- it is not the only one. Other countries like austria, moldova, ireland, Liechtenstein, malta and monaco are also neutral
