My friend picked his LHD Unimog he brought in Germany from the wharf where it had its customs inspection, drove it up to our diesel Mechanics workshop then promptly flipped a few levers and presto swapped it from left hand drive to right hand drive for Australian roads and that was in the late seventies.

The city of Phoenix AZ used to have couple for fire fighting brush trucks. Could set the throttle and walk along side with red line. Germany used them for highway maintenance.
