If you are boycotting Chipotle then don’t mind boycotting the hundreds of other brands that do the same thing

This is why I started cooking. Once you get in the rhythm there's no going back 💪

It’s not just inflation. These companies are INTENTIONALLY increasing prices and lowering portions

Subway used to be "$5 Foot long"... Now it's "6 inches for $6"

Ex chipotle employee here. This is all fact, at least for where I worked. Especially for online orders, our managers would tell us to cheat portions and get annoyed if we used too much product. They would also tell us to make 1 scoop per ingredient a habit, regardless of how much is on the spoon/in the bowl/burrito (enjoy those 3 chunks of chicken). Most of the time a bowl's filling wouldn't even rise above the rim. It was the worst during covid, I specifically remember one of my managers joking that "they aren't going to see it until it gets to them anyways" That being said, anything my managers enacted came from orders higher up in the corporate ladder.

I don' think it's just Chipotle. It's everything, and it's driving me crazy. Everywhere I go, the damn prices are just going up and up.

Ex Chipotle manager here.
When I was in training for management one of the things I was told I needed to work on more was "serving reasonable portion sizes". Meaning I needed to start skimping people.
Chipotle tracks every single ounce of food we make and the profit to portion ratio, how much waste we have etc. It's crazy asf

Chipotle was my second job in 2014. Basically my first. I always trained people and said, "it's not coming out of your paycheck." Because there was no need to skimp on portions. Especially the cheap stuff like rice and beans.

Chipotle doesn't need to be singled out. We need to do this to EVERY company trying this. Especially at the grocery store. Or else everyone is going to wake up where a dozen means 5 and the prices tripled or 6oz = 1lb. Or companies cutting down things a fraction of normal size trying to tell us it was ALWAYS that size.

This is exactly why I cook my own food.

Guys, support small businesses. Stop giving these big chains your money.

As an employee, don’t order online. I’ve been explicitly told by management to skimp on online orders to make up for the overportioning that happens on our front line (because aside from meat, queso, and guac, you can get as much as you want with no extra charge on front line, so we’re supposed to skimp online to balance it out). Also, if it’s a busy location, they recently removed order limits and are pushing us to make more orders than we can while pushing us to understaff restaurants, so we move quicker and make orders smaller. A few of us did the math and on weekdays during rush hour we have less than half a minute per entree or the order is counted as late and we get in trouble (although my location is busier than the average chipotle, that’s still ridiculous).

But I also agree that chipotle isn’t alone here and most restaurants are using these kind of practices.

As a former GM of a chipotle, I can confirm this is true and corporate would get mad at us for given even an ounce more. Not to mention we are overworked to the point we go through employees every few months. Those who stay are those who beat they system until they can move forward with their life.

Boycott ALL OF THEM!! That’s the only way this will stop. Greed is causing this.

I started learning how to make restaurant style food and honestly, even though it's not as good, it's still delicious and I can make 4 separate meals for the same price as one order at these places. It's at least $15 bucks now, wherever you go to eat. $15 bucks can absolutely make 4 homemade burritos with rice and beans!

I used to work at chipotle like 9 years ago and I can confirm I got in trouble for my portion sizes. I would give people a good portion to the point that people would tell my coworkers on the line that they want me to make their food and everyone got pissed at me. I was told that putting to much meat on an order messes up the system. It makes the cooks have to cook meat faster and makes the prep team have to work harder even though the meat is prepared the day before. Towards the end of the night is usually the best time to go because they donate the left over food and no one feels like bagging it up so you’ll probably get bigger portion sizes.

All are giving less portions for the money. Chip bags. Need to start calling out these
