Do you overthink? Try this!
I discovered one very simple technique to help with overthinking, that encourages you to focus on what’s within your control to regain some degree of rationality.
👉 I call it the ‘I WILL…’ List. 🔥
Simply, when you notice yourself starting to overthink about some future event, grab a pen and paper, and write all the things that you WILL do in response to the situation. ✍️
Here’s a set of simple steps:
1️⃣ Start by getting all your thoughts out of your head and onto paper - do a ‘brain dump’ of whatever’s on your mind - concerns, worries, anxieties.
2️⃣ From there, review what you write and categorize things into what you DO & DON’t have control over.
3️⃣ For everything you DO have control over, write your ‘I WILL…’ list. What are all the things you’ll take action on? Start small and build up.
It can be a useful technique to calm your mind and feel a greater degree of control over the situation, especially when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Importantly too, tick off each item as you complete them & celebrate the small wins for that wonderful dopamine hit.
