Vitamin B12 - How Often & The Dangers Of Taking Too Much

preview_player
Показать описание
Dr. Klaper tells us about vitamin b12 benefits and the dangers of vitamin b12 deficiency. Due to modern sanitation, there is very little b12 vitamin in a plant based diet so we must take vitamin b12 vegan supplements. Both Methylcobalamin and Cyanocobalamin are about the same in terms of vitamin b12 absorption. Dr. Klaper warns that taking too much vitamin b12 has been shown to potentially increase the risk of certain cancers.

Question: Does our body store Vitamin B12? Do we need to take it daily?

I thought a lot of doctors in YouTube were saying that Methylcobalamin is the best form, and to NEVER ever take Cyanocobalamin as it is not only hard to absorb but it also contains Cyanide which is really bad.

2:12 High homocysteine is not necessarily a sign of B12 deficiency. High homocysteine might be caused by fatty liver or folate deficiency, as well as choline deficiency (these things work together with betaine in the metabolism of fats).

( I personally had fatty liver disease, but it wasn't because any kind of deficiency; I just consumed too much oil and fats, in general, which my liver wasn't able to process and I ended up with fat being built up in the liver.)

If you're trying to know if you're B12 deficient, take a B12 test instead of checking your homocysteine, because high homocysteine levels are caused by many things.

Take B12 only if you're B12 deficient or insufficient and if you find that your B12 levels are low, not because of your high homocysteine. Sometimes B12 supplementation doesn't treat high homocysteine levels, because, as I've mentioned above, it is not the only cause of high homocysteine.

I've been taking a therapeutic dosage for neuropathy pain of 5mg/day since August. Pain relief has been dramatic - not total, but dramatic since starting these neurotropic B-Vitamines. I am NOT taking a commercial product like MetaNX - bei Alfasigma, NeuRx-TF - Bakodx, „The Protocol“, NerveReverse or Nuphoria, but rather a combination of B1, B6 (P5P), B7, B9 and B12 as well as R-LA. ALC, NAC, Mg and Omega 3. The last 5 I've been taking since around 2016 and I was first diagnosed with ideopathic peripheral polyneuropathy in 1999 and then again twice in 2012. In the studies I've read of neurotropic B Vitamins, with or without other substances or individually, the tested dosage was between 1.5mg/day and 100mg/day for up to 24 months. NONE mentioned any serious side effects, the only minor ones have been stomach queasiness, which I occassionally get. But R-LA, ACL, NAC and Omega 3 can also cause that.

I'm confused. Different Doctors saying Different things. I heard Vitamin b12 is water soluble and it's hard to over dose, cause the body takes in what you need and you pee out the extra. Also was told it's not stored in the body, so you need to take it everyday.

What if you have low stomach acid, lack intrinsic factor or don’t have the proper gut bacteria? Any of these can make it impossible to absorb B12. You didn’t mention it might be best to take a sublingual form of the vitamin, preferably Methylcobalamin so your body won’t have to convert it to Methylcobalamin like it must do with the synthetic Cynaocobalamin.

Remember though that back then when people were drinking water out of steams everyone had a belly full of worms! Or worse. Dysentery, Cholera, Giardia and many other dreadful diseases were very common back then. Abraham Lincoln’s first love, the ‘Love of His Life’, died that way, from drinking tainted water. No antibiotics back then… General Robert E. Lee said that the main reason the South lost the war was because most of his army had WORMS! And the worms robbed his men of their vitality.

You and Dr. Gregor have different suggestions on how much b12 to take. Dr. Gregor says 1, 000 mcg a day for vegans over 65. He also, suggests using cyanocobalamin version of b12. As a layperson who respects both your opinions, help!

What would you consider to be too high a level of B12? Mine was recently 1800 and I was taking 2000 mcg 3-4 times a week in a product called CerefolinNAC which a doctor recommended to prevent cognitive decline ( I’m 74). I freaked out when I read that high B12 is associated with myeloproliferative disorders and solid tumors. Thank you.

TINGLING, NUMBNESS, BURNING AND SLIGHT PAIN PROBABLY DUE TO “overdose” of b12: I supplemented with b12 without checking my levels first and took more than I should have. My levels were afterwards at 2000 and i stopped taking it. About 20 days later i began experiencing tingling, itching, numbness and some burning sensation on my left foot. Now my levels have gone down to 850. The neurologist said, although not sure, that i might have been caused due to the “overdose” of b12. I have been feeling this for a month. Anyone out there with the same issue?

I’m staying far away from B12, it was an ingredient in the almond milk I used every morning. After a year my anxiety was so bad, head pressure ringing in ears, awful spasms and nausea all day beginning after breakfast., I thought for sure I had brain tumor. Stopped the milk and instantly felt normal again. Been vegetarian with no eggs for 32 yrs and my B12 level is normal anyway.

Dr Klaper - your thoughts on the book “could it be B12”? It recommends serum b12 injections and getting your b12 around 600-800 due to research.

Could high serum test levels be a result of B12 analogues and not an actual accurate level? Thank you.
