This is so weird...I literally just re-read this book yesterday after coming across it in a used bookstore. Ray Bradbury was one of my favorite writers when I was a kid. You did a great job researching and presenting the backstory of the film and I'm so glad it's not forgotten!

Ray Bradbury's home town has a bar called Nightshade and Dark's. The drinks are named after Bradbury stories. It has a cool vibe. ✌🏻

I grew up in the 80s and we had this on VHS--we wore that tape out.
Jonathan Pryce is an AMAZING villain; he's so cool and polished, and when he speaks you're just totally arrested. And it's one of those movies that really puts you present 'in the time and place', right there with the actors. The scenes of them running down the street or through the field really envelop you within the atmosphere of the action.
It's a magical film.

I'm 45 years I remember seeing this as a very young girl and it terrified me!!! (**ESPECIALLY with the tarantula part!!!😳) But this was/is one of my favorite movies.... And each year I watch it EVERY time fall comes around!!! 💜

What I recall is a period in the mid-80s where it seemed like HBO was playing Something Wicked This Way Comes on such high rotation that it felt like it was always on when I went to see what was playing.

It was released in Australia on VHS in 1984, I also remember seeing trailers for it on other Disney tapes and the other Dark Disney movie you didn't mention Watcher in the Woods. Now that is a movie that you should cover as well.

Saw it back when it was new. I loved the dark atmosphere and the banter between Robards and Price. There are a lot of fun quotes. "Come visit me, sir, if you would uh, wish to improve your education"
