In the scripts, 'D'Oh' is annotated as 'Annoyed Grunt', and always has been. It is supposed to be a reference to early cinema, when characters couldn't curse.

Homer's Brain: "Oh, glory of glories. Oh, heavenly testament to the eternal majesty of God's creation..."
Homer's mouth: "HOLY MACARONI!"

My favorite dialogue -
Homer (Pretending to be Mr. Burns): Hello. My name is Mr. Burns. I believe you have a letter for me.
Worker: Okay, Mr. Burns. What's your first name?
Homer: I don't knoowww.

For an American, the Simpsons has historically been an extremely useful travel tool... Meaning, all across the globe, if you're speaking to someone, you can usually carry on a conversation about the Simpsons... It's so well known, complete strangers can bond over it...

“Boy, I’ve never felt so close to you as I do right now.” Homer, rolling backwards on a skateboard…

The only reason I subscribe to Disney+ is to watch the Simpsons everyday, start from Season 1, work my way through, and then start again. Great Video Minty!!

The who shot burns thing was also a spoof of the Dallas show, who shot JR. I used to be a huge fan! Used to love drawing them and getting the books about the episodes. Still got lots of the playmates toys. Treehouse of horror eps were best. Just got burned out

Very well done Minty! That was a great trip down memory lane. I'm glad you waited and really thought it through. That video is better than documentaries made about the Simpsons.

My favorite episode is Marge Be Not Proud, the Christmas episode where Bart shoplifts a video game right before Christmas.

I'm surprised you didn't cover the insane amount of conspiracy theories this show has had to endure.

I was 11 in 1987 and enjoyed The Tracey Ulman show but my friends and I loved the animated sketches we called “the Bart part”. When The Simpsons debuted I taped every episode on the VCR and my friends and I would parrot jokes back and forth to each other in class. The Simpsons became a skeleton key for unlocking friendships. If I was meeting somebody for the first time I’d ask “do you like the Simpsons” and if they said “yes” we immediately became friends. I think it would have been more special if show ended when the movie came out. Coincidentally I fell out of love around the same time. To this day, I quote the show to friends as a joke and shorthand to comment on any situation in life.

Well, Mr. Burns had done it,
The Power Plant had won it,
With Roger Clemens clucking all the while,
Mike Scioscia's tragic illness made us smile,
While Wade Boggs lay unconscious on the bar-room tile.
Chorus:
We're talkin' softball,
From Maine to San Diego,
Talkin' softball,
Mattingly and Canseco,
Ken Griffey's grotesquely swollen jaw,
Steve Sax and his run-in with the law,
We're talkin' Homer,
Ozzie and the Straw.
(repeat chorus)

The Simpsons and the Bundys. FOX had it good back then.

I only watched the Tracy Ulman show for the Simpsons. 🤷‍♂️

Talking to one of my nephews when he became an adult, he told me that there were a lot of jokes that he didn't got as a kid.
