I threw an ice cream party at a Reformed church, and said it was for all. I brought enough ice cream for the whole church. But I only gave ice cream to the ones I randomly selected. Soo many people were upset. They said it was a false ice cream party!

I have come to the conclusion that one of the major differences between Christians and Calvinists is that Christians seek and desire the lost to come to Christ, while Calvinists seek and desire Christians to come to Calvinism. It seems that one of their main missions is to spread Calvinism within Christian churches. Has anyone else noticed this?

Unfortunately, the answer is yes, Calvinism creates a different gospel. You can't read John 3:16-18 as a Calvinist. It reads, "For God so loved the ELECT that he gave his only Son, so that THOSE HE MAKES believe in him may not perish but may have eternal life. 17 For God DID send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the THE ELECT through him. 18 Whoever HE MAKES believe in him is not condemned, but whoever CANNOT believe stands condemned already because they COULD not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

I’ve been studying Islam and Calvinism side by side for different reasons and I couldn’t help notice the overlap and how closely they are related, as though it’s the same spirit. I recently decided to Google the similarities between Calvinism and Islam and was shocked to see how many articles/books even going back two centuries that show I’m not the only one who made this observation.

If a Calvinist is called to pastor a church his goal is to convert everyone in the church to Calvinism. Once happy Christians are made to feel that they have
been in error and need to become Calvinists. Calvinism splits churches and families.

It's the final 30 minutes or so that I was waiting for... An open and honest discussion of the pros & cons of any "ism."
Enlightening! 😊

I applaud Kevin’s bottom line up front approach. In the first 10 minutes he bluntly started that Calvinism is “another gospel”. I tend to agree with him. Excellent interaction guys.

My husband was a Calvinist for awhile when his seminary training programmed him to be that way. When my husband told me a friend’s plumber got saved, I told him, “I guess he found out he was elect.” My husband didn’t like that statement. I told him, “Well, that is what you believe, isn’t it?”.
I am thankful for Kevin and Leighton’s videos, because I couldn’t shake through the programming on my own.

I realized Calvinism is a different gospel when I went to a Calvinist church and started praying for an unsaved friend that God would ELECT them, since that is the only thing that will lead to their salvation - and if they are elect, they will be saved. I also realized it was a different gospel when I realized that Calvinists cannot tell an unsaved person that God loves that person and wants them to believe in Jesus and what He did for them in conquering sin and death on the cross — unless they know if that person is elect or not, they do not know that that is true. The only good news for Calvinism is for the elect - it seems like it becomes a gnostic “knowing” that you are elect that is really the turning point for salvation.

Around timestamp 26:00 I was thinking the main reason I interact Calvinists is to help them get out of the obvious contradictions in Calvinism. I can remember the joy and relief I experienced when I completely turned away from Calvinism

The Jesus of Calvinism 1) does not love everyone, 2) did not die for everyone, and 3) does not want all to be saved. So yes, Calvinism is a different gospel.

Calvinist believe they have to "persevere or they were never really saved." That is works salvation!

When people debate they bring their pride with them. An open discussion with the honest intent to find the truth removes all pride and arrogance.

The issue I have with similar discussions (I respect these two brother very much) is this: many non-calvinists never clearly state (besides Kevin, I think) that Calvinism is wrong. Which makes it false. If it is false, isn't it wrong to teach it to believers? If Calvinists insist on teaching these false doctrines, doesn't that makes them false teachers? If they are false teachers doesn't that make them wolves (Matt 7:15 ) Is it just me or am I just a self righteous, knowing all who desires the end of Calvinism indoctrination of churches filled with people who have given over their 'sense making' to false teachers?
